Share price is a bit odd and I don't know how it all works, but in app purchases of Pokeballs and shiz is no doubt pulling in the big money!

Big money for you and me but until we see figures I'd be sceptical it's big money in Nintendo terms. Also they won't be getting most of the money.

True but as they have rights to it all they should if sensible play on its success in their "nintendo" brand stuff and make sure that things tie together.

It'll be interesting to see how much Sun and Moon sell after this.

If they were sensible they'd do some kind of tie in.

The concept of money is a largely artificial one that we construct ourselves to make the world easier.

You could just as easily argue that the $$$ made by Pokemon Red & Blue wasn't "real" money unless Nintendo went and traded it all for real gold and then locked it in a vault.

First thing Nintendo should do is get the micro transaction items in My Nintendo as rewards. Get more people into that service. Expose more people to what else Nintendo offer.

For some of the younger ones Go is their first taste of Pokemon. Its inevitable that a percentage of that is going to go on and be more interested in the rest of the series. I cant see Go stealing the mainline Pokemon games thunder either as anyone interested in it surely knows whats involved by now.

"Shares in Nintendo have fallen sharply after the Japanese gaming giant said Pokemon Go's success would have a limited impact on its profits."

Captain Kinopio in the first response to this topic wrote:That said its kind of stupid money that's causing Nintendo shares to go up at the money, they didn't make this game, they didn't publish it and they're not making most of the money from it. It's just the idea that what's good for Pokemon is good for Nintendo, which is true but in this case not to the extent youre seeing in the share price. I would expect it to correct itself when the fad subsides in a month or so time.

:simper:

Though it's still up more than 60% on what it was before Poke Mongo

The reason Nintendo said that is because their investors were asking them to increase their sales forecasts without actually knowing what Nintendo's stake in the project was. Nintendo said they would stick with their forecasts.

Thing is the Pokemon Company doesn't have public shares and neither does Niantic, so the only was to invest in the craze was to back Nintendo who own part of The Pokemon Company. The stock market has nothing to do with Niantic or the Pokemon Company, who answer only to themselves and will be indeed raking it in.

Nintendo's takings depend on what dividends they draw from the company, if any.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

3DS XL hardware was up 222 per cent last week compared with the same period a year before, while 2DS sales rose 234 per cent. The figures are all the more impressive when you consider that news of the 3DS’ successor - the NX - was leaked last week.

Pokemon Go has inspired the wife and I to really get stuck into Pokemon X and Y. She's even talking about getting herself a N3DSXL - something she has never wanted before. So yeah, I can totally understand these sales.

I suspect that it's also why the first season of the Pokemon cartoon is completely sold out on Amazon. If the streaming services of the world know what's good for them, they'll be clamoring to get on the bandwagon and pay through the nose for a gooseberry fool ton more Pokemon stuff than they do now.

Netflix has had Pokémon available in its library for a while so I'd guess that contractual limitations would prevent others, like Amazon Prime Video, from adding the show to their libraries.

Go did spur me to finally start Omega Ruby and I managed to beat the first gym before I became busy over the past couple of weeks. I'm hoping to get on with the rest of it over the next few days :toot:

Maybe the UK has them all, but here in the US, Netflix only has 58 episodes of the first season, which was originally 80 episodes long (before those two were banned), and part of the ongoing Pokemon X/Y series.

Amazon US' streaming service has none of the TV show episodes, but has a few of the movies. Hulu has the Diamond and Pearl series and some others. Nowhere has anywhere near all of them.

3DS sales nearly double in US

Eurogamer wrote:It wasn't just hardware sales that took the lead either, as Nintendo bested the competition in retail software sales too.

Or it's just a bubble.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.
