Yes, but when they release you just uninstall it and install the play store one.

Yeah, but I was just wondering if that would be the reason I can't log in, now. Not sure if I can be bothered with playing it early if it means having to uninstall and reinstall every time an update is pushed.

Mine has stopped too, may just have to wait.... bloody regional releases !

Yeah, I'm not sure why they're still a thing these days. Pain in the arse, especially as devs must know people will force their way into access for it regardless.

Huge Pokemon fan, but just not excited for this at all. Looks like a glitchy, low budget mess that people will play once then get sick off. Pure money spinning.

Yeah, I've played other location based games before, and they can be spectacularly gooseberry fool. Inaccessible locations, sparse of things to do outside built up areas, killer for battery life.

I want this to be half way decent, and I want to at least give it a try, but I'd still rather have a proper Pokémon game on mobile. I hadn't realised just how full of money spinning micro transactions this was, either. Some of them sound ridiculous.

Yeah, had a bit of a fiddle about on this earlier and largely agree. It's Ingress, except with less stuff to do. It relies solely on the Pokemon licence.

Well I quite like it. There are historical ruins behind my house, which is a gym, perfect. I didn't know you could claim them, so I've got to do that. :)

I don't know what people expect from mobile games. They are never exactly mindblowing, they just work and are things to mess around with. They also have to work on a billion devices so are usually glitchy as strawberry float.

I encountered my first wild Pokémon earlier, and it turns out there's no combat, you just throw a pokéball at them, and that's it.

After some reading around online, the only combat is against other players in gyms, and you level up your Pokémon with items rather than experience, so the whole things seems geared to be a pay to win money sink.

Downloaded this this morning, got 3 pokemon, luckily where I work seems to be a shop. Will be interesting to see what happens when I actually move about etc.

I imagine you'll only be able to get so far without in app purchases which is annoying.

In app purchases get you items, and you can get them by going to pokeposts, you wont get as many but there isn't anything game breaking the purchases.

Obviously this game isnt gonna appeal to those who want to just find Pokemon and occasionally battle, but the hook seems to be finding them in places that then become personal to you which I like.

I can't see any grown adults dropping money on upgrading a pokemon and then lauding over it, so if people play this casually, whatever. Seems a bit of fun to me. Does this mean it's out on the play store now?

It's only out in certain regions. Looks like they are doing a staggered launch so the servers don't get absolutely hammered like they were yesterday.

https://www.reddit.com/r/tifu/comments/ ... okemon_go/
i m a 23 year old employee in a Banking/IT company. As you can guess, i was born in nineties and my entire childhood was just one word - POKEMON. i read about the launch of Pokemon Go on iOS and my thumb automatically went to AppStore -> Pokemon Go -> Get It! i could feel the 10 year younger version of me, dancing with excitement. Playing it just for 5 mins, i left for my office. Now this is where i screwed up. Employees of my company are allowed to use smartphones inside the premises BUT using camera is strictly prohibited as we have access to clients personal data. you can guess what happened next. i just thought of exploring the game option and settings and as soon as i opened it i encountered a wild ZUBAT! i instantly went into Ash mode and started throwing Pokeballs all over the screen holding the phone high in front of my face as if i was taking a selfie! (Zubat was flying, hence). then came voice from behind "excuse me sir, are you clicking photographs?!" and next thing i knew was my iPhone getting confiscated. I tried to post this yesterday but it got removed because security dept was yet to reply back to me. So today i got a call on my alternate number saying that my phone needs to be sent to abroad country to the headquarters of my parent banking company to check for any possible data regarding clients personal info. If any data is found for e.g photos of monitor or codes, i may loose my job and also be blacklisted. i actually had some photos of programs that i wrote just for reference and i m gooseberry fool scared if they get their hands on it. i just started with my career and dont want to be blacklisted! that is worst thing that can happen to any individual to works in a IT sector. and not to forget, i kinda lost my hard earned iPhone too.
TL;DR - got my phone sent to headquarter office by playing Pokemon Go in my office where using camera is prohibited. May loose my job and get blacklisted for life.

Sounds like it's time to go down the contracting route where you an play pokemon go whenever the strawberry float you want.

But I was also at a security company where yes using your phone was quite strictly not allowed. My mum once went mental because I couldn't answer her calls. Taking photos is a bit dumb. There'll always be some jobsworth knob.

Teen plays 'Pokémon Go,' discovers dead body in Wyoming river

A teenager living in Riverton, Wyoming, reportedly discovered a dead body in a river Friday morning while playing Pokémon Go.

According to County 10, Shayla Wiggins was trying to catch some Pokémon from a natural water source at around 8:40am when she jumped a fence to get closer to the Wind River. Wiggins saw something in the water as she walked closer to a bridge along the shore. She did a double take, but she says it looked to be a man's body floating.

"It was pretty shocking," she told County 10. "I didn't really know what to do at first. But I called 911 right away, and they came really quickly."

The investigation is still ongoing, but the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office told County 10, "The death appears to be accidental in nature and possibly that of a drowning. There is no evidence at this time that would indicate foul play. Evidence located at the scene has led investigators to believe the man went into the water at the location he was found.”

Wiggins was reportedly a little shaken up from her discovery.

The Daily Dot has reached out to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office and Riverton Police Department and will update the story with any additional information.

Hope she found some ghost types.
