You need to be near the pokespots. Spin the medallions to get gooseberry fool out of them and tap/swipe to collect stuff like pokeballs. They then turn purple and are reactivated (turn blue again) after about five minutes. I've got a few eggs too. They are filled under Pokemon. You have 1 incubator by default, incubate the eggs and travel 2-5km to hatch them.

A few gyms near me are already owned by banana splits with 400+ power pokemon and it's been out for days.

Today I walked around a park for 20 minutes and caught nothing while my partner got at least 10.

It's a bit too random. The ui is also completely obtuse. I still don't know what the white ripples that appear on roads mean and the flying grass net me no pokemon.

So little about this game is clearly explained, and with great scepticism I suspect that this may be on purpose.

When you say you have to travel 2-5km to hatch stuff in the incubator, how does the game track this? As far as I can tell, the game only measures stuff when it's running. I've walked a fair distance today, but my medal for tracking distance walked progress only shows 900m tracked, which is probably accounted for by the drift in GPS signal as I've had the game open while stationary. I had the game open for half an hour before, as I used an incense, and my character kept running all over the place up and down and across the road, whilst I was sat on the sofa.

Anyone stumbled upon one of the human corpses yet?

So I walked past a ton of pokestops yesterday but I didn't get anything because apparently you're supposed to spin the picture? Where in the strawberry float does it say that? Give us some basic instructions at least.
Also, I caught more Pokémon sitting at home and in a Tesco carpark than I did walking around town, which kind of defeats the exploring element.

Yeah I think the app needs to be open unless you have a Pokemon Go Plus which is a wearable, really they should have it hook into Google Fit or something but I guess they want people to buy the Plus device.

I don't think it's as bad as people are making out, but it does have issues. The nice thing about mobile apps is they will be updated pretty much forever.

Anyway, I have no idea if this is related, but as we've gone for at least 2 walks with the aim of catching Pokemon now, that's good. A new eurogamer article is up about it. I even went swimming for the first time in bloody years and managed 250 metres, so if Pokemon go got me out of the house and healthier, that's kind of amazing. It's nice to have something to do while going for a walk.

About the GPS tracking, which is pretty awful no matter what mobile device you use or what app. In the pub earlier which is a pokestop, it kept relocating me across the road to another pokestop, then back again. So I just flitted between the two racking up Pokemon and eggs while sitting on my arse.

I get more walking towards my eggs hatching from GPS being crud that actual walking as the tracking doesn't work when the app is minimised....

It is all well and good having a watch thingo coming but you need to be able to track walking without it !

So what kind of Pokemon can you find in the swimming pool? :shifty:

The worst of the starters.

There was a Squirtle somewhere nearby in the park earlier, but my girlfriend was getting really annoyed at me being on my phone all the time, so I had to leave it. :(

I had a Squirtle nearby as well, but it seems you have to walk around in circles for about a quarter mile radius to actually have any hope of a nearby pokemon appearing.

I've got a 10km egg as well, so they definitely go higher than 5km.

I'm not sure how your partner caught loads and you didn't as you are supposed to see the same pokemon as people near you. I was down Cardiff Bay trying to catch a Golbat with two Japanese guys earlier

You get even fewer balls from pokéspots once you hit level 5, as they start giving out heal items for the gyms. I dread running out of them and having to stalk about just to get 2 or 3 at a time. :dread:

Yeah I'm out of balls now, there is 1 stop near me and I can't do it on the way to work so I think my interest is going to drift now

Luckily there's a pokestop right outside my flat so I can stock up on items when I'm at home.

I drove around town earlier scooping up a load of pokestops. Still haven't encountered any Pokemon whilst actually walking though.

They restock every five minutes so if you're out at a pub etc and it's a pokestop you can rack up a lot of stuff.
