I think it makes sense for them to go back to the roots of the series for the first big home console adventure, it's an easy way to pull back audiences that have grown away from Pokemon over the years. The original 151 and the nostalgia over Red/Blue and the TV series still has a hold over plenty of people in a way that newer Pokemon simply will not. It's also great for the younger audience because most of them will never have experienced the original games properly and the popularity of Pikachu in particular goes across generations.

A Yellow remake, heavily influenced by the TV series (and with an art style to match) would do an absolute killing, I'm sure of that.

Not hugely keen on GO integration, I never really got into the mobile game to any great extent and have no plan to do so, but so long as it's optional then I'm fine with that.

Inspired by Pokemon Go, the new Switch game will incorporate augmented reality into the experience by having you detach the joycons and throw them like pokeballs in real life. There will even be a LABO kit to build a cardboard pokeball shell around each joycon for maximum immersion.

As long as it's main line it'll shift Switches like there's no tomorrow. A Mystery Dungeon (for example) wouldn't have the same impact on sales in my opinion.

Can't wait to see it though.

As someone who put nearly 30 hours into Pokemon Platinum (my first and so far only Pokemon gaming experience) without ever actually getting anywhere with it, I am very much looking forward to doing the exact same thing with a Switch version :slol:

Sounds like they're shaking up the approach to this game which I'm all for. Been a while since I was genuinely excited for a new Pokemon Adventure.

I never touched Pokemon GO so i’m not really sure what they can take from that to add to a console Pokemon game?

The only thing that has me reserved is the Pokemon GO integration. I just hope it's more of an accessory to the game and not a requirement to fully experience everything.

Yeah I'd hope the Pokémon Go aspect of it (if indeed it does have a Pokémon Go aspect to it) is completely optional.

I'm guessing the Pikachu and Eevee subtitles are for which Pokémon you start the game with? If it is indeed a remake of Yellow that is. Don't see why it couldn't be a single game with just the option given to the player at the start of the game.

The only thing I'm trusting about these rumours is the title. Pikachu is obviously the mascot and Eevee has been getting a lot of focus this year. It makes sense. Going a bit further, we can expect Kanto.
What I wouldn't want is for Kanto [or the new region] to be designed the way current 3D games have been - where they STILL feel designed for a 2D artstyle/world. Also, I say this every time now it seems whenever a new game is mentioned, but can we please have colosseum battle facilities like Colosseum/Gale of Darkness? They don't even need to be attached to the main questline, but still have them accessible during it for some extra experience boosting.

Not sure I'm very interested in a Pokemon Go-ified Yellow remake if that is indeed true. Make a new proper game.

Surely it'll be a new game, and Pokemon Go interaction will have to be optional. If it is a yellow remake though, the two versions should be Pikachu or Mimikyu as a starter!

It'd be cool if you could trade pokemon between Go and the new game. It might be a little broken to let you go from Go to the game, but the other way round would be cool to let people use their pokemon in gyms etc.

Some kind of innovation with starters would be welcome, for example giving you a much wider or a random choice. Maybe giving you the choice of all your Pokemon Go pokemon as a starter even.

At least we might not actually have too long to wait until we finally get to hear (hopefully see) just what the first Pokémon game on Switch will be like. Its the one part of the rumour I can fully believe as new mainline Pokémon games normally get their own dedicated Direct these days don't they? Hopefully they'll still show more off at E3 mind if it does get announced this month.

Yep, you're right-based on previous reveals, I expect Gamefreak to reveal the game in the next few weeks with a follow up at E3. If they don't, I don't think it'll be at E3.

If its coming out this year I reckon it'll have some focus at E3, Nintendo mainly focus on games coming out in the near future so it'd make sense for it to have some presence at this years E3, even if its just another trailer or a demo for the press.

I guarantee that they'll be "normal" Pokemon games, with a Go app (not sure if new or the old one) to connect with on your phone or tablet. The Go functionality will be optional, but will be the primary means of locating ultra-rare Pokemon (Celebi, Mew etc) during seasonal or promotional events. These rare creatures will also make their way into the Switch game - in fact, anything you catch in the app will be transferable, and vice versa. They may even sync up so anything you catch will automatically register at the moment of capture to your Pokemon game account. Utilizing both the app and Switch game will be encouraged, so expect rare items and all sorts of other goodies to appear only in one version.

If that leaked screenshot is to be believed, I'm all for avoidable and chase able Pokemon rendered on screen. It's really quite archaic and annoying going through those same animations over and over again when a Pokemon randomly appears in grass. So I'd like to see that. The attack animations are alright at the moment. I enjoy the world of Pokemon and the monsters, but that's the last mechanic that really needs an update, so I can choose when I want to be exploring and rpging and battling yet another strawberry floating bird Pokemon etc. But I'm generally not a fan of RNG, I don't mind it being included, but blind random stuff sucks.

Yep, think this all makes a lot of sense, can see it being something along these lines.
