In Red and Blue the guy at the entrance by the statues told you weaknesses against rock, so you should've known from that.

It seems the same guy just wants you to show him you have a Pokémon that is good against Brock, but I believe you can just swap it out after showing him.

Yeah I know but I was 10 so I just ignored him and beat him with my Charmander. I think making it mandatory to have a grass or water type is a bit overboard. In the original games, if you didn't pick Bulbasaur or Squirtle was it even possible to catch a grass or water type before Brock's gym?

It is rather un-needed though, I mean both partner Pokemon learn double kick before you reach Brock's gym

Anyway I'll be getting back on with this in a bit, had to venture out the house this morning taking away valuable Pokemon time!

I agree that it shouldn't be mandatory. I was just pointing out in Red/Blue there was a handyman who helped wit info.

The Pokeball is really not too comfortable to hold for any kind of prolonged period, though I suppose it was more designed for the size of children's hands rather than adults hands.

Yeah the Poké ball plus is really rather small (and I have small hands!), still find myself using it though :)

Anyway, what are the two icons that appear in the lower corners of the screen? One of them seems to be there all the time (a green circle with two white people in), the other a Pikachu with a joy con?

I am unsure of the green icon, I assume it's to have 2 players. The icon with Pikachu is to say to go pet it.

Thanks, guess Pikachu thinks I've been neglecting him then!

When it appears in the battle screen, if you shake the joy-con/Poké Ball, your Pikachu or Eevee will attack with a special fifth move.

Think I've only seen it in battle a couple of times, but good to know!

How do you get Mew from your Poke ball plus?

Connect is as the controller for player 1, then open Communicate from the menu, select Mystery Gift, and then Receive from Pokéball Plus.

I haven't seen it in the battle screen. Only when walking about.

Poke Ball is really neat though. When you caught any Pokemon after confirming that it has been caught and it tells you the colour of Pokemon’s skin on the Poke Ball.

Picked up Let's Go, Pikachu! in hmv this afternoon. My other half has started a game, been watching her walking around Viridian Forest trying and failing to catch a Bulbasaur for ages.

Oh yeah it's really neat, I just think it could do with a couple more buttons ideally. Love using it though, really made me feel like a 10 year old again in my first couple of battles

She did well to even find one! I couldn't and gave up after a while, just using the gift Bulbasaur (well now Ivysaur) instead.

Put about 6 hours into this today, absolutely loving it

Team so far is Pikachu, Ivysaur, Charmeleon, Wartortle, Nidorino and Mr Mime (after loving his appearance in the Detective Pikachu trailer I stumbled across one in the wild to the east of Vermilion so I thought I'd try using him). Currently aboard the S.S Anne. So far I'm really enjoying the catching mechanics and I'm not really missing the wild battles, exp does rack up quickly once you start chaining and catching small variants of Pokémon, much more so than trainer battles so far.

Also, the music
