That Gengar following you around is a bit creepy  :dread:

I still play Pokemon Go regularly so this is a day 1 purchase. Pretty clever as a stop-gap spinoff game since Go is still really popular. I take it this isn't made by GameFreak because it looks way too technically competent for it to be them.

Seems to be a ton of misinformation going about, but online trading and battling are in apparently

the games do look great but im a disappointed that wild pokemon battles have been replaced with the go form of catching and its a shame its only the original 151 and i do feel like ive been on this journey through kanto a million times but that pokeball peripheral looks amazing

also dead hyped for gen 8 next year

I'd have loved a Diamond/Pearl remake on the 3DS!

Good to hear online battling/trading is still a thing. A mainline Pokemon game without that would have been very odd, it'll be odd enough not having to battle wild Pokemon before catching them.

It's not a mainline Pokémon game

I really like the graphic style on this.
But then I've never played a DS/3DS Pokémon game.

Red/Blue Leaf Green/Fire red supremacy.

It does have some mainline game aspects, overworld looks pretty similar with how you interact with it (except Pokemon appearing in the overworld rather than random encounters) and it does seem to have a traditional battling system in place. Seems like a nice blend of a mainline game and a spin off (in the form of Pokemon Go in this instance) to me.

Oh, Go! on then. It looks like they're testing the waters for a new side series, while hopefully improving on the design of everything ready for the 2019 main series games. If I do get into them, I'm going Eevee. No question about that.

I'm not sure which version to go for yet, will have to wait till they confirm/deny you can't evolve the starter Pikachu/Eevee. If you can't evolve them then Pikachu all the way, if you can and they allow an exception to the original 151 rule by letting us have access to all of Eevee's evolutions then Umbreon would make the Eevee edition very tempting.

Yeah this, it is an evolution (LOL) of the normal games hopefully removing some of the boring and strawberry float grind that you have to do and meaning your can choose when to battle stuff and be more targetted rather than having to walk backwards and forwards in a patch of grass for 12 hours to get to level whatever you need for the gym.

No it isn't. It's a spin off game. Masuda even said so. It's a Pokémon go tie in.

I think I'll pass on this one and wait for the big one next year, anyone want the thread?

It'll be interesting to hear how they plan to deal with levelling and training your Pokemon without the option to grind via wild battles, will EV's still be a thing for example? I've seen Serebii tweet that via a Q&A IGN have said that there will be differences in how you level up and train Pokemon in these games.

I imagine they'll address the levelling/EVs with mini games in the style of XY's super training.

Looks better than I was expecting, don't think it's for me but I can see it appealing to a younger audience or people who only hopped back in with Go. I do really like the presentation though, here's hoping that overworld Pokemon and followers stay in for the 2019 mainline.

I remember them saying ages ago that we should manage our expectations for the Pokemon game they first announced for the Switch, since it might not be quite the big thing people are expecting.

Relieved by what we've seen so far though. It looks good, and I do like me some Gen 1.

I'm okay with not seeing another mainline/next gen game so soon. X/Y felt a little shallow to me as a main title, especially looking back. One of its main draws was that it was the first properly 3D-looking set of games. Sun/Moon felt a lot more accomplished. So its good that they can experiment a bit with Let's Go before the main events.

Playing the game through a pokeball and then using it to catch the Pokemon is a stroke of genius. As a kid, I'd have been all over that!!

That trailer was fantastic and left me very excited :toot: for the game's release in November. I think that people are reading too much into the lack of random battles. My take from that and the trailer was that wild Pokémon would not attach you randomly but would appear in the overworld for you to engage at will. I'm looking forward to learning more and maybe even engaging in some jolly co-operation :toot:
