I saw, unlucky. Didn't you flop a king high straight or was I looking at the wrong hand?

I doubled to 8.5k. I purposely limped with aces as a guy to act after me has been shoving a lot when there's been limpers to pick up the blinds. He was drawing dead after the turn.

I saw that and knew one of two things was true.

1) You're an idiot.
2) You were trapping with AA or KK.

Nice one.

Woo, Straight now!

What a suck out.

I'm dealt KQ on my BB. Lots of callers, until one of the last to act sticks his pot in. It was a pretty bad call to be honest and one I won't be making again. He ended up having aces. Flop came 10 J 6, giving me an open ended straight draw, which I hit on the turn when another ace came down. The board didn't pair on the river and I'm now sitting on 18.2k.

Bleh.. after that it didn't go so well. On the board of 4 J A, I was holding A6, didn't really like my kicker too much. If I had a bigger kicker I'd have gone all in against the big stack instead of folding. Then I get KQo, I raise to 3k and a guy later down the line sticks his stack in. I called because I had him covered, and he flips over A 10. At least I wasn't dominated but the board only brought low cards. Down to 5k, and thankfully I picked up eights in the BB. Two call the blinds, I go all in, one guy folds and the other guy has K 10. This time the board brings high cards. :(

I finished 74th.

To complete the GR poker stories, I was 9th out of 18 tonight. Had a really bad start, but managed to double up to put me back in contention. I decided to try to go for the lead with pocket fours, but ran into the only player left (the BB's) pocket Jacks.

Never mind, another game tommorrow, hopefully I can win that one, but I played much better tonight.

Good luck for tomorrow, Diml.

I find jacks a nightmare to play at the best of times...

It's going to be on Full Tilt, yes? I have an account on there but I withdrew all the money ages ago to play on other sites. It shouldn't be too difficult to deposit a small amount back.

Has it been decided if we're playing with 6 or 9 players yet?

I think Slayerx was organising it.

I've been meaning to start playing Poker online for some time. But I never get the time to do so. Play with friends every now and then which is good fun.

I remember back in the day some of us played online poker (not for money, like). Can't remember the site though. Myself, Oxxboy and Big Frank played, among others that I can't actually remember (possibly rinks and TheWay too).

Early on, I was playing agressive, and nothing could go wrong.

I flat called AJ suited, to get five callers.

It came down A,J,2 and the first to act stuck in 1,000 as an agrressive bet. I put her all in, and thinking that I couldnt have possibly flat called AJ she went for it. Bloody wrong though wasnt she?

Also, I had to fold pocket 7s on a complete overboard of 2,3,5 to avoid going out. He'd raised pre-flop - and as I suspected he had a higher pocker pair. Kings.

The heads up was insane. We both went all in FOUR TIMES in a row, and every time we kept swapping stacks! It was mad the number of times pocket pairs came up! Eventually ground him down, he went all in against my big blind, I had value to call with J4, and I rivered the Jack.

The rest as they say...is history.

Excellent news, Diml.

On Friday I exhibited a nice bit of 'squeeze play' a few times. My friends know I play quite tight thanks to the image I've built over time, and that when I raise I (usually) have a legitimate hand. Anyway, there was a raise before the flop with all but one calling. I then re-raised that amount significantly and everyone folded quickly except for the original raiser who thought about it for a while before doing so. I had nothing.

I generally tend to mix my play up a lot though otherwise I'd never see any action, which is why I usually limp with kings, aces or queens, which leads to trapping players nicely.

How does everyone else here play?

Depends on my table at the tourneys I play in at the local casino.

I myself have a tight image which I take advantage of however sometimes it can backfire.

I'm thinking of signing up to FullTilt, can someone please explain howI'd go about this 'rakeback thing' and the advantages and disadvantages!

To get a percentage of your rake back, you simply find an affiliate to sign up through. This will usually entail following a link on their site and inputting a certain bonus code when you download the software. Following this, you'll get a percentage either directly deposited into your account on the site or into another form of payment (Paypal etc).

Advantages:
27% of your cash rakeback and tournement entry fees back, allowing you to play break-even poker or better and profit.

Disadvantages:
Um, it takes 10 minutes or so to sign up?

FullTilt is one of those lovely sites that works out their rake slightly differently, in the sense that you're included providing you get dealt cards. So you can fold UTG and watch players behind you go apeshit raising mental style, knowing that you're getting a portion of that rake regardless.

However, you may not earn rakeback at FT immediately as they ignore it while you're earning a bonus, which FT starts you off with (100% up to $600, I think.)

If any of you guys are going to sign up, I get a nice bit of commission if you sign up through the link below. If not, no worries.
