I think they restarting the servers at 1pm, hopefully that'll fix it.

Thought this was a weird spot. Villain is 14/14 over 14 hands and has shoved in a 20bbish stack previously without any action before him, but wasn't called either time.

Tough one. I'd lean towards a call but they always have AK when I call. :lol:

Either's fine really. If you call it's probably +EV but you're risking your tournament life. If you fold you've got plenty of chips to find better spots and get better reads on the players. If he keeps shoving from that position then you can call wider next time.

After all the server problems yesterday I was refunded $37 for the 7 $2.50s that were cancelled. I'd busted another 7 before that so still ended up with a slight profit which isn't too bad. Today I played 31 games with 5 cashes: 2x min,1x 6th, and 2x 2nd. Pretty happy with that as both 2nds were against a huge stacked reg who I was unlikely to beat.
Looking at HEM it's been 400 games since my last win, that's well below average. :|

I see a lot of people do that live Sykes and it tends to be A-K. They don't know what to do with it, but know it runs well in a race etc so just shove to take the hard work away from them. However its still a tricky spot as A-Q is hugely ahead if they are a true maniac. I'd err towards a fold live, but wierdly I'd probably call online.

Given the lack of information of how at what life the tournament currently was at I am leaning towards a call with 14/14 I imagine his LP PFR is much higher than 14%?

Plus you have him covered by 8 bbs and you have an orbit in your favour!

To me that kind of play seems more likely with a small pair. To play AK that way seems really quite bad.

Check out my YouTube channel!

Was a weird spot for sure. Anyway, as it happened I decided to call and he turned over AK.

Also, MIT had a small two week course on poker which some kind soul has uploaded the slides from to this website. I'm having a read through and it seems like good stuff which could help any beginners. Might be worth sticking in the OP for any newbies that pop into the thread?

There's a new poker site starting up soon that is sure to grab all of our business. Register here.#

Edit: Just found these 180 vids (link). The player is a big winner at 180s and MTTs so it should be worth a watch.

AK = Ace King
AQ= Ace Queen
AJ = Ace Jack...

Which terms in reference to hands are you not clear on?
