It's like they tried to make it as disappointing as possible.

Well that was disappointing, not even a bit surprised though.

I have barely touched Pokken on Wii U so doubt I'll end up going for it on Switch, from what I played it's a good game but not enough for me to want to buy it again. As for Ultra Sun and Moon, makes sense, easy game to develop using existing assets to maintain software releases on 3DS. Hard to get excited over it though.

I love the idea of playing Gold/Silver again, they're my favourite Pokemon games, however I don't really want to be buying on 3DS Virtual Console at this point. If I could play it on Switch in future that might be a different story.

So nothing new at all? A DX version of a fighting game noone played on Wii U, an updated version of the latest mainline titles and the VC release of Gold and Silver. Just drop them in an info dump at E3 next week.

Super happy for Pokkén on Switch, loved it on Wii U despite being super low res so will be double dipping on that. But aye, there's no way I'm playing an RPG-length game on a 3DS screen these days, so like many I'm gutted at the lack of Ultra Sun/Moon on Switch :/

Just catching up on this...

> Pokken Tournament Deluxe (Switch) 22 September
> Pokemon Gold/Silver on Virtual Console (3DS) 22 September
> Pokemon Ultra Sun / Ultra Moon (3DS) 17 November

Hmmn. Pokken is by most accounts a decent fighter, but I'm a little concerned if this is gonna be Nintendo's only new game for the Switch between Splatoon 2 (July) and Mario Odyssey (November). The Ultra versions of Moon and Sun sound pretty low-key to be - probably - Nintendo's main games for 3DS this Christmas.

I can. Game Freak are all about minimum effort and they get to milk the much larger 3DS user base. Same thing happened with Black/White 2 as well but at least you could play that on 3DS via BC.

I only use my 3DS for playing Monster Hunter these days. Not buying any more games for it, certainly not VC ones either.

The last mainline Pokemon game to ever be released.

Serebii.net just posted this:

It is currently noted that The Pokémon Company International's press site is listing Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon as being on the Nintendo Switch with a "To Be Announced" date. It's currently unclear if this means they will come out on Nintendo Switch in the end but we'll provide all details as and when they come. They have since deleted this note.

Weird that they're not releasing Crystal on the VC too when Yellow went up with Red and Blue.

Aye I find that really baffling, I suppose there'd be the worry of Crystal making Gold/Silver redundant...but then I suspect people would likely just go with the version they grew up with, ala R/B/Y. Heck, I'd have assumed that would be more of a concern with gen 1 what with Yellow being in colour(ish).

It was all worth it for the Sun/Moon meltdown on Neogaf.

They don't seem to want to put the second iteration of the titles on the Switch, as we had previously expected. It's like releasing Pokemon Ultra Red and Ultra Blue instead of just doing Yellow.
