Anyone else finding this game legit tough? I'm on the third island and the last bunch of trainer/boss battles have pushed me to the edge. Admittedly I subbed out a lot of my squad as I wanted to prioritise new Pokemon for the sake of the adventure (only Kadabra is in my squad as a back-up until something sexy enough comes along), so most are underlevelled, but some of those Totem Pokemon were bastard hard. Also changed the options from Switch to Set, as playing with Switch rules is for babbies.

Can't believe the hassle I'm going through to get this. Amazon let me down on release day, their tracking lost my Fan Edition, and they asked me to wait a few days to see if it corrected itself (which is hugely annoying for one of the most anticipated releases of the year). It didn't. They cancelled it, rather than sending a new one, asking me to re-order if I still wanted it, but of course it's almost £10 more expensive now. So I re-ordered assuming they'd match the price, but the web chat wouldn't, and then I couldn't cancel the new order. So I left my number to lodge a complaint, and thankfully the guy on the phone couldn't understand why they wouldn't match the price, and offered to refund me the difference. Fingers crossed it'll actually arrive tomorrow. What a hassle. Been reading all the impressions of you guys playing it over the past couple of days and am very jealous. :x

Just done my 3rd trial I think, keep losing track. On the 2nd island and just cleared the Grass Trial in Lush Jungle.

Anyone wanna battle and stuff? IDK how to have battles on the battle spot with all teams at lvl 50.

My teams about level 20-25 mostly, trying to catch them all.

My codes 1178-0978-9113 if anyone wants battles and things? Or to trade, randoms arent accepting my battle requests ;_;

Since Black/White (maybe even before) I have a box left of Box 1 for Team PKMN and have a team of at least 12 rotating Pokemon that get switched out. In X/Y i literally had a full box of ~30 team Pokemon by the time i finished the main game. It's more fun, makes it a bit more challenging and you get to see tonnes of Pokes and their moves. Would reccomend to alleviate the difficulty.

Yeah, got blacked out from: Magnemite, Wishiwashi, Lurantis so far.

Haven't been blacked out yet, but have been using more potions and revives than any other Pokemon game I've played. I actually reckon the main reason for it is that I decided to go in cold with this game, so whenever new Pokemon turn up I have to adapt on the fly to figuring out what type they are, and due to the changes in structure from the standard 8 Gyms - Elite 4 - Champion method of progression, I honestly can't predict when some big battles are going to occur. Honestly had one battle where strawberry floating Grimer/Muk gave me trouble. Bastards with their Poison/Minimise combo, whittled away my whole team.

It's actually made me more tactical with my battling. Both my Kadabra and Decidueye have Recover and Synthesis respectively, so I often use those moves while using potions to top up the rest of the party, and Kadabra's Disable has been an absolute godsend at times. Hopefully I'll sub out Kadabra soon.

I just got Wimpod to evolve. Knew I was looking at a Magikarp/Gyarados parallel the moment I laid eyes on it. 8-)

Sun/Moon is the first game I haven't spoiled myself since Diamond/Pearl.

I watched the officially released trailers and things but no leaks or full dexes or story spoilers. I watched up until exactly where I am now on munchingoranges playthrough which didn't spoil anything that hadn't been shown officially.

Looking forward to the weird stuff just introduced with these dimensions (never played ORAS past 4th gym so don't know much about that story specifics with dimensions and stuff) and battled some pokemon that was literally an anchor online which is crazy.

Away to face the 2nd Kahuna, team:
haunter
dexio (owl thing)
espeon
snorlax
alolan raichu <3
araquid thing
also:
misdreavus, plonkadonk the buttfree (MAIN, gunna sweep E4 with him), wishiwashi, drifloon and bouncee

Yeah, I found the Wishiwashi totem battle quite difficult too. This is largely because I try to make an "all new Pokemon" team and there aren't really any decent electric options early on. Got that bird one but I like monsters that evolve (as I have gone in blind and so want to be surprised by evolutions).

Just finished the fire trial myself.

10 hours and just got to the second island. My Pokemon are all around level 17-20.
I'm finding trainer battles quite easy as I've yet to encounter a trainer with more than three Pokemon, and the vast majority only seem to have one. I seem to be rather over leveled compared to wild Pokemon too.

Having a blast though! Current team is,

Torracat
Yungoos
Trumbeak
Grimer
Magnetite
Kadabra (Who despite being Level 20 has yet to learn an offensive attack :x )

Was trying to catch a Pichu on the first island where the Pokedex says they are, but just cannot encounter one. Do they only appear at a specific time of day?

Therell be a little icon next to the spot with a sun/moon showing time of day they can be caught, e.g Drifloon can only be caught in daytime in the graveyard (in Moon at least)

Does the game punish you for fiddling with the clock like animal crossing? My 3DS is an hour fast so it's night too soon

I caught one during the day. Apparently the encounter rate is around 5% or something.

I'm finding it to be more difficult than I'd expect from the series too. The battle at the end of the 4th Trial was the most difficult one in this series since Whitney's Miltank back in G/S IMO. The improvements to the AI have definitely helped to make it more of a challenge.

Just beat the first island trial. What a nice change from the usual gym leader stuff. Framerate was absolute dogshit when fighting that Raticate though.

The world in this seems better realised than in previous games. Might be something to do with the dimensions of characters and environments, or the fact that there seems to be more pet Pokemon running around. I'm actually enjoying the scenery a lot in this one.

I have a few complaints, but this is shaping up to be a great Pokemon game.

The second evo for the Seal thing though :dread:
