Interesting to see who was backing the reforms, and why; some of the richest musicians in the world moaning about not getting paid enough.

That's good news. I said it before, but something like this is the last thing the EU needs for their reputation at the moment.

If anyone's bored at work they could listen to this Radio 4 discussion I've just listened to: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0b89nq0

President Emmanuel Macron has proposed removing the word 'race' from the French constitution. It currently reads: "France... shall ensure the equality of all citizens before the law, without distinction of origin, race or religion." Mr Macron wants to amend that to "origin, sex or religion." He is backing campaigners who say that, as all humans are 99 per cent genetically identical, the idea that humanity could - or should - be divided into different races is prejudiced nonsense. Is the concept of race indeed so discredited that it should not even be mentioned in the conduct of human affairs? That policy would cut both ways; it could become illegal, for example, to discriminate positively with 'targets' and 'quotas' in pursuit of ethnic diversity. Mr Macron's opponents believe as long as racism exists there will always be a need to talk about race. There is also a wider moral question: how far should we go to recognise and even encourage human differences and group identities? Some people, it is reported this week, are uncomfortable about the idea of reserving university accommodation for only gay and transgender students. There was controversy after the Mayor of Paris threatened to ban a black feminist festival which proposed to exclude white males. Are we risking "creeping segregation" in the name of diversity and inclusion? Or do separate spaces offer vital support and solidarity to those who feel marginalised and ignored? Witnesses are: Dr William Lez Henry, Professor Adam Kuper, Rima Saini and Ella Whelan.

Raises some interesting points.

It is prejudiced nonsense.

And that's precisely why they should keep the reference to "race" in there. Normal people don't care about race, racists do and that's why laws explicitly outlaw racist behaviour.

It's utter bollocks from the same kind of thinking that somehow sees the state of affairs in Western societies and believes we live in a 'post-racism' world.

It would be amazing if that was the case but until majority communities (of various kinds) recognise and correct the inherent privileges they enjoy over minority communities (of various kinds) it won't happen.

Diversity movements and quotas are awkward and not ideal but unless we for some reason accept (or more accurately with these proposals ignore) current societal privileges as being a natural order, it's the bad but necessary compromise to making a fairer society. Without them, racism is normalised.

Rumour has it that the DUP have taken out a Super Injunction against the press to stop them reporting on a sex scandal and they may pull out of the Supply and Confidence agreement.

Yep, deleted today. Also deleted was the account of Emma Little-Pengelly.
Rumour is the two were having an affair (Both are married) and the DUP have taken out a super injunction to stop it being reported.

Fiona Paisley is going all out on Twitter as well.

Seriously, how is it that we are stuck with nothing but waste of oxygen scumbags for politicians in this country.

Not a single person, not one, capable of inspiring an ounce of hope or even competency.

Yeah, it's really the sort of view you can have if you can only have if you are part of the majority. Minorities do not have the luxury of imagining that there is no such thing as race, they are reminded of it constantly.
