Gatwick is far worse than Heathrow for anybody that doesn’t live in the South East/South Coast.

Somewhere around Birmingham would be best.

They don’t have indoor toilets in Birmingham, I’m not sure they’d cope with “flying god machines”.

It’d be best to build it somewhere near Brum until the locals get used to it.

When i lived in Devon, there was an event where a bunch of blokes would meet up on the high street, and run up and down the street with flaming barrells of tar on their backs.

It's an odd place that west country.

I'm in favour of both airports getting an extra runway. Why choose when you can have both? :datass:

Croydon could be the next Nashville with council plan to make the borough a music destination

Croydon could be the next Nashville or Cologne with a council plan to make the borough a music destination.

The borough’s Cultural Strategy for three years will be discussed by councillors at a cabinet meeting next week.

The report outlines plans to improve the arts sector in Croydon and includes creating a safe night time economy in the borough.

It states: “One of the models we might want to look at is the Music City model where a location builds proactively on all aspects of its music sector to create a vibrant economic engine of activity.

"This would include the development of venues, music production, performance opportunities, festivals, education and training and secondary industries.

"London as a whole is considered a music city, as is the likes of Nashville, Ontario and Cologne."

With the highest number of under 25s in London, part of the strategy includes working with youth arts groups in the borough.

“Additional funding of £100,000 has been allocated as part of Croydon’s cultural funds specifically to support youth arts activity in the Borough,”

“We will be working alongside the Croydon Youth Arts Collective and through the newly appointed Youth Mayor amongst other partners in the allocation of this and aiming to double the fund.”

Cabinet member for culture, leisure and sport Cllr Oliver Lewis said: "Strengthening Croydon’s growing reputation as a destination for innovative arts and culture is part of our ambition to make the borough a great place to live, work and do business.

“Performance, street art, dance and festivals all contribute not only to economic growth – but also creating a vibrant place to be.”

Adding an extra runway at Birmingham is not really possible. Theoretically there is space but there are some SSSI's as well as listed buildings on the land. And there is no space to expand the terminals. Shame really as with HS2 ( :dread: ) the links to London would be quite good.

I think. New airport should be built in Buckinghamshire, around the Milton Keynes area. Plenty of large expanses of green space around where Compulsory purchase won’t involve entire small towns and villages to be floored.

I think this is a great idea, they can put it right over Asda and that sports stadium they have there.

Well this seems like a good way to waste a ton of cash. Why can't Croyden just except their destiny as a bit of a gooseberry fool hole just outside London where people go to live when they can't afford to live in the centre?

Just the name Croydon sounds like something Alan Partridge would come up with.

Heck we don't have outdoor ones here either, we have to hold it in and hope we don't explode.

Well it seems we agree as it's not going to be in Milton Keynes but conveniently located next door in Bletchley.

Good to see none of the politicians addressing the crime wave in London (and beyond) at the moment, where in the last few days you’ve had a celeb, Australian reporter with camera crew, a baby and mother, and luxury shops targeted.
