A former UKIP councillor has been found guilty of murdering his wife, after he had an affair with their son's partner.

Stephen Searle, 64, strangled his wife Anne to death at their home in Stowmarket, Suffolk, on 30 December.

The ex-Royal Marine had denied killing Mrs Searle, 62, after she found out about the affair with Anastasia Pomiateeva.

He was found guilty by a jury at Ipswich Crown Court and will be sentenced at a later date.

Prosecutor Andrew Jackson previously told the court Searle had probably placed his wife in a choke hold he had knowledge of from his military training.

Searle showed no reaction as the verdict was read out following a six-day trial.

Stephen Searle was elected to Suffolk County Council in 2013.

Not sure why Steve Bannon is being invited on to the radio, or any mainstream outlet, in the first place. At this point in time he’s nobody, hasn’t really been aroud for months, and now all of a sudden he’s popped up over here and on the front of the Telegraph.

Farage doesn’t like Yaxley-Lennon? I’m surprised by that.

I’m worried by the UKIP rise again, but I guess at this point the Tory party aren’t shy from hiding that side of themselves anymore and the silver lining is it splits the vote on the right

Yup, even with those numbers it's unlikely that they would result in actual seats. Don't forget too that in the last election some UKIP candidates didn't even stand in marginal Con/Lab constituencies. It's doubtful that that would ever happen again.

Yeah mate, it's incredible how the NEC not ditching a code of conducts that have been resoundingly dismissed by Jewish communities is all part of a media conspiracy to coincide with the Tories own problems.

Utterly pathetic.

The story is that Margaret Hodge called Corbyn an anti-semite. She’s was born a refugee in 1944 to a German-Jewish parents who were fleeing the Nazis and her grandmother and uncle were murdered by the Nazis. She’s been a Labour MP since 1994.

She sounds like a Tory plant to me. :x

Blatant conspiracy if I ever saw one. :fp:

Undeniably the Labour party has a massive ongoing issue in this area, but is it accurate to call Corbyn an anti-semite? Has he personally shown hostility toward or prejudice against Jews (either individually or as a wider community)?

You can argue he is for failing to definitively strike out against those elements of the party and remove them, which is a legitimate complaint against the man - but I'm not personally aware of any direct antisemitic behaviour from Corbyn?

I am not aware of any anti-semitism coming from Corbyn himself. But if he is defending or protecting anti-semites in his party, then I don’t think it really matters that he isn’t personally attacking Jews.

The Tories have a very similar problem with Islamophobia that they seem unwilling to deal with. I’d agree with Corbynites that the press love to hold up Labour anti-semitism and ignore Tory Islamophobia. That’s not a reason for Labour not to do anything though, sort it the strawberry float out and kick the racists the strawberry float out of the party.

His calling Hamas and Hezbollah friends in the past doesn't help either.
Yes he's said he regrets using that language, but he's not exactly denouncing them either.
