William Hague saying the "War" on Cannabis has been lost and we should be thinking about legalisation.

We were never going to be one of the trailblazers regarding the legalisation of cannabis, but with 9 or 10 US states legalising it and Canada well on the way, I'm sure we'll follow at some point. Always easier to implement these things in smaller populations first. Main concern is around driving while under the influence.

Yep i agree.

I personally think Cannabis should be legalised. It will help massively with crime as long as it is priced correctly. If not then we will have a situation where a black market still exists for it.

I do not smoke the stuff and never had. I certainly wouldn't try it still even if it's legal. I also think that if it's legalised we will initially see an uptake in people using it but over time this will drop away and usage will probably be less than it is now.

The driving under the influence is a concern so the government will really need to get that message across should the day ever come that it is legalised.

I have no problem with them legalising it, but I'd like them to implement a complete ban on smoking of any kind out in public - I don't want to have to suck in someone else's cigarette or weed smoke whilst I'm walking along with my daughter. Feed your disgusting habit in your own home or not at all.

I think we should legalize it, but use a portion of the tax to help children caught up in the illegal drug trade. Apparently a lot of the farms in the UK are run by Vietnam children who are little more than slaves. I'd also like the police to get a lot tougher on people smoking in public areas, especially the center of towns as it seems to have reached ridiculous proportions.

Yeah i was thinking this as i was typing. It's a tough one. I hate walking through plumes of smoke. Driving it into the homes though (as it currently is) makes for hell for the neighbours though.

One issue I see with it is you can get high just by being near someone, its not like drinking where you have to actually pick up a glass and ingest the alcohol yourself to get drunk, just sitting near someone and breathing in their second hand smoke will make you high. This means youre then impaired and shouldnt drive but if you werent actually smoking yourself then you might not realise it.

Yeah. This was my only experience of getting slightly high. At uni i would go to my mates house where 3 or 4 of them would smoke cannabis. I definitely felt myself laughing and giggling a lot more however clearly not to the same degree as those who were smoking it. However it was worth it as it meant i would thrash them all on Super monkey ball, Pro Evo etc.. as they couldn't concentrate.

Rather than attempting to run before we can walk, I think we should just focus on legalising medical canabsis rather than including legalising weed in general into the whole debate. Like opium production, they involve two completely different things.

Smoke being everywhere is the fault of the anti-smokers. It used to be nicely contained inside pubs, but now it is everywhere.

strawberry float you anti-smokers.

Absolutely this. Cannot stand the smell of smoke or weed.
