The issue is with politics is people support parties like people support football teams. No matter how strawberry floating gooseberry fool the party have done people will still vote for them.

It's about core values. Many supporting the conservatives (and those that always vote Labour etc for that matter) support their core values, an as no other party hold those core a values they can't change.

The manifesto falls part of it but usually they aren't read and its the core what the party stand for people go with.

If you are a Conservative there is no one else to change to with similar values, its why they do so well they are the only ones offering what they do, whereas on center left you have a whole host of parties with similar core values making it easier to switch and so splitting the vote.

I kind of wish we had another Tory style party who could actually challenge the Tories in their home grounds. The major problem with the Tory party is that large parts are courpt and there is no way to get rid of them. Here in Southend we have loads of Tory councilor's that basically do nothing but let the area fall apart. Most people agree that we need a change but refuse to vote for anyone else. In fairness I don't think this is unique to the Tories. Reading the private eye it seems to happen every where. Also weirdly people don't care about local politics even though it affects them far more than national stuff.

I can't believe May is hanging on the Brexiteers are just starting to look really stupid now. They've thrown away everything and couldn't even trigger a vote of no confidence.

This really is May's best chance to take control of her own party. Surely the Hard Right have shown that they lack the numbers to oust/challenge her significantly so she's not going to get a better chance to kick them down and reassert herself.

I'm no supporter of the current Labour leadership but I'm starting to wonder just exactly how bad they could be compared with the current shower of shite. May is without doubt the worst PM in my lifetime and her dipshit colleagues in the cabinet have spent the last 2 years waging their own personal crusades whilst simultaneously strawberry floating up the only serious bit of business they've had to concentrate on. Article 50 was invoked by these strawberry floating idiots with no clear idea of what they actually wanted and they've wasted the time since. We're no nearer a negotiating position than we were on the day after the referendum and you've got a government with a smaller majority and massive internal strife. At this point, I'd rather have my cat as PM, it would be only slightly less effective.

Core values isn’t quite right. The party of Macmillan has very little to do with the current party.

A lot of people pick a party (or go with their parents party) and stick to it, no matter what. “I’ve always voted Labour, I’m not changing now!”.

I hope all of this chaos leads both parties to collapse and let’s us start again.

Or at least bring back the Whigs.

Simon Hart, the MP for South Pembrokeshire and Carmarthen West, made the outburst on Twitter following the resignation of Chris Green, the Parlamentary Private Secretary to Transport Secretary Chris Grayling.

Mr Green Tweeted a copy of his resignation letter, saying: “I have handed in my resignation to the PM as PPS. Brexit must mean Brexit.”

Mr Hart replied to the Tweet saying: “Your a pps Chris. It is not relevant and nobody gives a strawberry float. Apart from me obviously.”

Mr Green replied to the comment only with a sarcastic correction, saying ‘you’re*’.

When challenged by Simon Clarke MP, who called the message ‘poor form’, Mr Hart defended his actions, saying: “The stakes are high, and destabilisation (however honourable the motives) ultimately self defeating. It’s also incredibly frustrating to those of us who have remained silent on these issues for so long.”

Tensions are running high in the Conservative party following the resignations of Boris Johnson and David Davis yesterday, over concerns of the way the Prime Minister is handling Brexit.

Earlier in the day, Mr Hart said: “Whilst everybody calls for Theresa May’s head its worth remembering that it’s David Davis who has actually failed here. Over 2 years as Brexit Sec and what’s to show for it?

“It also seems that Davis resigning (2 days after signing up to way forward) has hugely increased chances of brexit never happening. Remainers could now support vote on customs union….? Ironic pat on back for architects of this gooseberry fool show..”
