I think this would be alright if they made the multiplayer bigger and better. More maps, more gameplay modes.

It wouldn't be the same though I think folk like CoD MP for it's fast pace levels. I can't stand it anymore but no point changing a winning formula.

How many gameplay modes do you want? There are loads in CoD. The War mode in WW2 is something genuinely different.

Titanfall is the only thing that comes close to having the snappy, tight gunplay for me and I like three relatively tight maps so I'd rather they didn't change too much. I think CoD and Battlefield might have a resurgence in popularity over the next couple of years with those who don't want to play Battle Royale games.

I always like playing the campaign of cods, they're always deliver plenty of dumb fun.
So if they ditched the campaign mode, I won't bother getting it.

I still can't see this rumour is true because the Black Ops series is always known for it's campaign modes, and why call it blops 4 with no campaign they could call it another sub title.

Not sure how people are happily accepting this saying it's alright if they do it and just make the the maps bigger etc.

They'll still charge you £50 for the multiplayer only game and will set a precedent for future games to follow. Even if it did go 100% multiplayer, people will still buy the game and that's what's going to hurt gaming as a whole down the line.

Yeah I agree. As much as people might want to rag on CoD it has at least always offered a good package every year.

This makes no sense. Overwatch was an MP only full price game and is fantastic.

I wish BF would take the same approach. Dump the mediocre story mode and put more time and effort into creating more detailed maps.

Yeah, but Overwatch never had a single player game in the first place; charging the same for a product with less "content" is pretty gauche, and exactly what activision will do. Also it makes the whole "mw2 remaster won't have multiplayer" thing make much more sense; THAT will be the singleplayer for this year.

I've never played a COD game, but I can see why they'd do this from their point of view; no new story to write, no NPCs to voice, no single-player levels to design, big savings on time and money with all that gone. Then they'll just copy what's popular at the moment for the new 'feature' of the multiplayer - all while charging the same price as they've always done (possibly with a single-player mode as DLC later).

Cod is a like a training ground for war or a series of small skirmishes. Battlefield is like an actual battle. They are two completely distinct games that happen to have guns. People always want to play them off but they happily co exist. The war mode on Cod has taken hints and cues from Battlefield and others and has actually succeeded in encouraging teamwork, coordination and communication. Its lack of death totals has also given less skilled players a much needed mode where they can feel valued and contribute without getting rinsed at every turn. It doesn't make it battlefield of course but it has been a welcome and refreshing change. I'll be very keenly waiting for the announcement about BLOPS 4.

Considering how many hours i spend on the multiplayer, i'll almost certainly be buying this regardless.

The big story will be if they don’t release MW2 with MP. Then there will be a backlash of epic proportions.
The vast majority of people buy cod for the multiplayer. It makes absolute sense to concentrate on the MP only if they’re going to ditch something. It’s still only rumour though. I’ll believe it when I see it for both.

It won't and there wasn't.

Only played the original Black Ops myself and generally don't fancy the type of multiplayer CoD offers. I would gladly take a collection of campaigns though as Iv'e always found them appealing.

This news totally makes sense, except for that 5% or so that don't dive straight online.
