Think I'll be seeing Ponyo this weekend  I love Ghibli. I still remember going to see Spirited Away with my brother, expecting very little, and ending up being blown away. Still one of my favourite movies.

As for favourite Ghiblis? I'll plump for these three:

Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke
...gah.Makes this a tie between Nausicaa, Laputa: Castle in the Sky and Castle of Cagliostro

To be honest though, I love all their films! Though I wouldn't rate Pom Poko, Tales of Earthsea and Only Yesterday quite as highly. Plus I've not seen My Neighbours the Yamadas, Ocean Waves or Little Norse Prince.

I've seen this with the original Japanese voices. One of the sweetest things I've ever seen...

I know it's not cool to like new Ghibli films but Howl's Moving Castle is one of my favourite Ghibli films.

I also loved Tales from Earthsea. 8-)

My top 3 are:

Laputa: Castle in the Sky
Kiki's Delivery Service
Porco Rosso

Eh? What dweebs think it's cool to not like new Ghibli films?...lead me to them so I can bop them on the head!

I really liked Howl as well, even read the book afterwards. Definitely worth a read, the film shares much of the same first act as it but then they each go off in completely different directions.

Oh nice, looks like I'll have to pick the book up. :)

This one looks a bit too twee for my liking, plus the english dub will be terrible.

My top 3:

Porco Rosso
Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke

Tales from Earthsea is pretty good too

Anyone know why it's taken so long to hit our shores? It was playing in cinemas when I was in Hong Kong over a year ago!

Top 3, cos I think Ghibli's epic films are poo.

Kiki's Delivery Service
Pom Poko
Totoro

Watching Kiki dubbed version on the dvd, it became clear that at every opportunity they completely changed the wordings of jokes and the dialogue. I kept switching between the dub and subtitled versions, and all the best jokes are either absent or ruined. WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT ??

Only seen one of these films, was about some talking cats and some girl that seemed a little to fond of the talking cats. At the end I think she killed herself.

Grave of the Fireflies
My Neighbour Totoro

Really not interested in their other stuff. Mononoke bored me and although Spirited Away was great to look at, it also bored me to the point of falling asleep. And I never do that.

Grave of the Fireflies was good but oh so depressing.

I can only watch it about once every two years it's that sad.

I'll give this a chance though.
