I always think of this example:

Someone shared this with me a while back and I could never shake the notion that the widely guitar bit sounds just like something from early Mega Man.

The whole song gives me Earthbound vibes, but skip to 2:50 and listen for those squid sisters from Splatoon in the background.

Though I think that's a little tenuous as it seems like a fairly simple motif, and the DK one has those notes that sound even closer to the swells in Night on Bald Mountain

Not exactly on topic, but I always think this would fit Crash Bandicoot boss music.

The chorus music on Hanging tree on Songs for the deaf(QOTSA) sounds like a bad guy battle tune on super Mario 2 on the nes. I defy you to say I'm wrong.
