A car has been involved in a collision near the Natural History Museum in London, police say.

The Metropolitan Police said a "number" of people had been injured - but a BBC reporter at the scene said she was told by police the injuries were minor.

One person has been arrested at the scene.

BBC reporter Chloe Hayward was leaving the Natural History Museum as the incident happened.

"I could see was a car diagonally across the road, looking like it was going into one of the boulders on the side of the road, and I could see a crowd of people around what was clearly one or two people on the pavement," she said.

She added there were now armed police at the scene.

"We have had lots of police coming onto the scene, helicopters above, and I can see an ambulance which is definitely having someone put in, but it isn't clear how bad that injury is."

Apparently it's a registered taxi, so it could be an accident (though immediate scenes most likely rule that out), stolen, or maybe some sort of Uber related protest. Or, you know, terrorism.

First instinct is obviously a terror attack but I shall wait and see. The fact it's minor injuries suggests it was probably an accident as surely if the driver wanted to actually kill people it wouldn't be too difficult in a car.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was a case of driving while tired/drunk from the sounds of things.

The Met are saying this isn’t terror related.

Yeah, from the news it didn't sound like it. Although I'm sure ISIS will take responsibility.

What, they expect us to believe someone could just crash a car by accident? This reeks of a cover up.

Daily Mail wrote:Terror at the museum: Driver 'deliberately mows down pedestrians'

In the constant drive to be first, you irresponsibly end up with headlines like this (derived from a quote from...somewhere) despite the police saying they didn't know. 'Terror at the museam as car knocks down pedestrians' would have had the same impact without being based on a whim.

This almost tangible disappointment on social media that it's just an accident (or an aggrieved individual) is really sad.

It's actually quite depressing how everyone wants any incident now to be a terrorist one...

Also proves once again that the desperation to get the story out first further causes problems, really need to start making news outlets responsible for printing such nonsense and stop then hiding these errors in tiny paragraphs...

It wasn't a terrorist attack. Nobody died. BBC News got their facts right. It's just a complete strawberry floating disaster.

There are two possibilities with that daft twat.

1. She’s genuine.

2. She’s playing a character for those sweet Fox News dollars.

Option 1 means she must be literally hiding under her bed absolutely cowering in fear. Quite pitiful really.

Option 2 means she’s trying to turn other people into option 1. Utterly detestable.

Hardly surprising for Katie Hopkins to do something like this. She's a bit crazy.

She's not though. There's a market for this sort of gooseberry fool and she is playing to it.

Don't we have laws prohibiting someone from profiting from terrorism?
