Looks like the owner on that documentary sold it a few years back. He apparently was interested in buying it again.

But it’s not surprising. There’s like 3 or budget stores around each other. Then you have Lidl and Aldi too.

A lot of these retailers that are struggling are the ones who never really embraced the online market and put a lot of effort in it. Retailers like Argos and John Lewis have done that. Argos fast track delivery is pretty useful at times.

Yep, i remember the centre and water feature well, can't remember for sure as to which shops i visited (i visit a lot of small arcades so it can be tricky to remember what was where sometimes), but there was definitely an indie entertainment store selling music & DVD's, was that the one you co-ran?

But if people are buying from them online, then they are showing that the bricks and mortar store is becoming irrelevant. Having a good online presence and logistics is just preparing for the innevitable no high street presence.

No, that was Rise. They moved to Bristol I think.

They can't import cheapo stuff from abroad and sell it for profit anymore due to the weak pound.

They just refurbished my local one about 2 weeks ago.
