Power Rangers - Cosmic Fury Out Now!

The old topics around seem to just focus in on a specific part of the series, so I'm bringing in one general thread for everything - comics, series, movies, toys, and all the rest. That logo above is the 2019 version, that was recently shown off at the New York Toy Fair to coincide with the announcement that Hasbro are getting the toy licence starting from that year.

With the 25th anniversary of the series coming up, I'm hoping for something fresh from 2019. With Ninja Steel currently on its second season and the announcement of the next soon to be coming up [where that new logo style will hopefully be used to great effect], there's interest in the series as a whole, and nowhere is that more apparent at the minute than with the comics. The Shattered Grid arc is joining the celebrations by doing what Megaforce wasn't entirely successful at - bringing in a whole host of Ranger teams from the past [or in this case future] to work together in beating down evil.

Aside from the reveal of the next movie, I really want a game that joins in the celebrations as well. Legacy Wars was a great start, but being a mobile game has succumbed to the problems such a platform has [at least, the free-to-play games]. A proper console game on the current generation that actually has effort and passion put into it would be a great way of celebrating. Maybe for 2019.

Just realised I'd put Bandai had acquired the rights, when in fact it is indeed Hasbro. I suspect Hasbro owning the licence might bring about some higher quality, which seems to have been lost over the years with Bandai.

That's the TV series for 2019 announced, and after watching the first episode of Sentai Go-Busters, I'm hopeful for this one.

Ninja Storm is the only series I enjoyed since the original, though to be fair I havent watched much of the others. The recent movie was a big let down for me as well, but only because the zords were absolute trash, I thought they did some good things with the lore and the rangers themselves but the main monster and the zords were just so bad.

What are the chances Hasbro will re issue the legacy collection stuff? I still have all the zords from when I was a kid but Id love a brand new set to display.

This song came on at a bar I was at on Saturday night

Immediately recognised it, and then had to explain to people where it was from

I really enjoyed the reboot film and would love to see a sequel but I’m not expecting it to happen as it performed below expectations at the box office.

I haven’t watched the tv shows since the 90s, although I watched a few series with my son when he was younger who stopped watching when he was about 5 or 6 and has refused to watch anymore. He got into it when he was about 3 or 4 as his older cousin would watch. I expected him to still be watching now but he flat out refuses for some reason.

If anyone ever does want to get into the series (or back into it), I always recommend Dino Thunder [2004] just because it took the best plot elements of the original and made them better, but also because it has a great amount of character development throughout and does its best to recognise the legacy of Rangers as a whole - including an episode that shows the source material of Sentai Abaranger.
And you can't go wrong with one of the best team-up episodes in all of Rangers being within that season.

What channel did this air on in the 90s? Because I always noticed it on Fox Kids, but Telewest customers never received the channel.

They were originally on Sky One I think, they didnt move to Fox Kids until the early 2000s.

I absolutely hated Power Rangers as a kid. However, my 4 year old has just got into it and I bloody love it when he has it on the telly. I love the plots and the cheesy acting. My boy is obsessed with Troy from Megaforce!

I quite like the Pink and Yellow rangers from Megaforce who are quite easy on the eye, although they don't match up to MMPR Kimberly.

We are getting a little toy collection going, and I kind of owe him a Megazord as a bribe for good behaviour!

Is Dino Thunder the one where Tommy came back?

Yes, it is. They worked that well, in my opinion, knowing Tommy's popularity.

I caught a little of it while my younger brother watched it. He was really in to that series and Wild Force.

After already entering into a parnership with Hasbro for the toys, the entirety of the licence is now under Hasbro's control.

Hasbro acquires Power Rangers for $522 million

I'm hoping they can get the series back to the quality of early/late Disney era seasons, but I haven't really seen any of the shows they've put out to be sure they could.

My parents are having a clearout of their attic and stuff soon and I want to be there sopecifically so they dont throw out our zords. We have a complete set of the original ones and all bar Tor from the thunderzords, really dont want to give them up.

WTF, why are they wearing sunglasses over their visors, which are the mouths of the animals?! For the yellow ranger I can't help but see a hamster trying to swallow a pair of sunglasses. :|
