Hopefully he'll do something like very publicly document the process of going through treatment and normalise it a bit so people might be more inclined to get checked out. Would be an actual good use of being the king, instead of just going on a 24/7 jolly around the world.

Waited 75 years to become king, then this happens. Some people have no luck.

Even if the cancer was caught reasonably early, at his age the priority from this point on is going to be maintaining his health as best he can (you would think). Which isn't going to be best suited to his role perhaps. I wouldn't be surprised if an abdication will occur over the next 12 months.

Although the Queen was barely able to travel at all or do anything in her final few years but didn't abdicate, so maybe he'll remain king and give William a few more years before it happens.

Lucky bugger, the wait list for an abdication on the NHS is 3 years.

I harbour no ill towards the royal family, but I'm getting a taste for these days off for mourning and investiture.

The really funny thing is, no existing post boxes are being changed, as they have the monogram/crown of the reigning monarch when they were installed. It's only new post boxes that will be different, and they would always have been different because they will have the new monogram anyway. So the total extra cost to the taxpayer is 0.
