Whether you’re a diehard republican or just not fussed about a mega-wealthy lady in her 90s heading to the eternal grave, just bump this thread whenever it looks like her maj is about to pop her clogs.

Please for the love of god say she survives until after my holiday. I really cant take 2 weeks of constantly being asked about it by Americans :dread:

Last time I was asked about William and Kate, I said they were close friends and we lived on the same street and they believed me. :fp:

It's a win-win situation, either she lasts until next May and we get an extra holiday or she shuffles off this mortal coil and we get a day off for the funeral.

It's not a win-win. I've taken 3 days off next year to take the whole week off. She better not ruin that by dying.

If it meant this country would actually mature out of having a monarchy entirely, I'd happily put the champagne on ice

...but that's never going to happen, is it? :shifty:

We might see a scaling back of the monarchy, particularly the many hangers on, once she pops her clogs.

I think that once the Queen dies, calls for a republic will grow.

But it'll take a very long time before there are any changes.

I think the opposite. She's so old that there will be immense sympathy and the family's popularity will grow. They would be smart then to try convince Prince Charles to abdicate and go straight from beloved old lady to beloved young family with William on the throne, but that's not happening.

More importantly, if she dies now, do we lose the extra bank holidays next year?

They'll briefly get a spike in popularity of course, but that won't last long.

There's zero chance that Charles or William will be anywhere close to as popular as her Maj.
