Its funny (or not as the case may be) but I was actually wondering about this last night. In 4 weeks time the spread of swine flu will lead to a lot more cases. My guess is that a week before, the E3 organisers stipulate some health and safety advice, like 'wear face masks, chew with your mouth closed, dont be such dirty fat unhygienic fanboys and wash your hands after you go for a piss and before you shake hands.'

That would be perfect time alas it is too soon after the release of RE5 - how about Dead Rising 2 set in a Californian trade convention?

Ha! I like. Either way, an announcement of a zombie game in proctective suits would be perfect. Show some ambition and seize the moment, Capcom!

Actually you've got me thinking. E3 is getting more theatrical so why not use it against the journalists there. Imagine it, they are sitting there in the middle of a conference, suddenly the lights dim, a red strobe comes on an alarm siren sounds, and over the soundsystem a loud stern booming voice comes on saying "This is not a drill. A biohazard has spread into this hall, you are being contained for your own safety." Then an army of soldiers in yellow suits rush in with ak-47 pointing them at the audience.

Just as the audience are about to cry a ton of leaflets are dropped from the ceiling and a message comes up on screen "Resident Evil 6 coming 2012."

Or even better just release a few pigs into the theatre to run through the crowds...

Nintendo will have to change their latest catchphrase, though.

Your going to E3 aren't you? For some reason I don't mind so much that I will be watching via my PC this year!

This is the first time I've actually worried bout swine flu.

My bet is no, but they might be forced to scrap plans to open it to the public.

Awesome idea.

Would be awesome if they streamed in Home.

That's actually a brilliant idea.

Recreate the show floor in Home and walk up to stalls to download game demos!

I'd totally use home for that. Sure it'd only be once a year, but still.

I dont know if Sony can technically do it (yet), but if they could make the Sony conference viewable LIVE in the Home theatre, well, it would give Home some serious credibility.

I guess i'm the only one that finds that picture somewhat hilarious.

Anyway, here's a little update, that things are still going to plan. One of the most anticipated E3 in years, i'm sure everyone involved wants to see this go ahead no matter what.

E3 organisers are confident the show will go ahead next month, despite a swine flu 'State of Emergency' being called by California governor (aka T101) Arnie Schwarzenegger.

Speaking to trade mag MCV, E3's organiser the ESA said it will be "progressing as planned" despite the risk. For the record, we're prepared to risk a horrible death to see Modern Warfare 2 as well.

"The 2009 E3 Expo is progressing as planned," an ESA spokesperson said. "Public health officials are taking all appropriate steps and we continue to follow their direction on all measures.

"We look forward to a great event, and to seeing you in Los Angeles in June."

So far State and local officials have confirmed 13 cases of the Swine Flu in California - none fatal - and UK games publishers are said to be closely monitoring the situation.

We'll be wearing the E3 facemasks between June 2 to 4.
