Played the demo. I liked it a lot. Felt very good to play-combat was simple but effective and looks like there's a lot of scope for upgrades and varying your build. Movement was very responsive. Graphics reflect the cheaper price point I think, bit ropey in places (especially in good scenes) but very clean and functional to be fair so I don't think it's any kind of issue. Will definitely get this when it's a bit cheaper.

Yeah this is brilliant. Can't believe no one thought of this sooner!

I ended up buying this after playing the demo, and it’s excellent. It’s quite the mash up of prince of Persia (and it really does ‘channel’ the old one in some ingenious ways), Metroid and Ori - plus the added bonus of a half-interesting storyline delivered old-skool RPG style. Very entertaining, surprisingly tricky (well I think so, anyway) and well worth yer ‘ard-earned. Great game.

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

Seems this has only sold 300k worldwide, shame but I think it was quite expensive at launch. Should have been cheaper and it might have performed better (Not that I don’t think it was worth the money, more that it would put off impulse purchases)

Yeah, 300k is not great is it? Weird how this has tanked yet Palworld has sold millions because it got a load of free advertising on the back of it being 'Pokemon with guns' despite it being generally poor in my opinion. I'll still be picking this up when it goes on sale, maybe that will be sooner rather than later due to the poor opening of it.

I'd have snapped it up if A) it was £25 and B) I didn't have to install Ubisoft's stupid strawberry floating launcher.

Funny how we didn't sniff at Metroid Dread being a full price game, but this seems like a bit too much.

Same for me, I think I'm waiting for a $30 price.

You expect Nintendo to charge a premium.

Plus if the Assassins Creed games are anything to go by, PoP will be in a cheap sale soon.

I think the price it launched at is fine, the problem they have is we all know how quickly Ubisoft game prices drop so why not wait? I'm looking forward to it but I'm not desperate.

Just fought Monalias and finding it a bit of slog. 3 constellations downs and not sure where to access the fourth except it's right over the east of the map.

Was finding the boss a pain and it says "consider upgrading your gear/equipment" but there's not a great deal of point running around trying to grind time crystals to do so.

Also upgrades/secrets are sparse enough I'm not sure I want to run around the world randomly looking for them hoping to stumble over them. Particularly when there's sometimes lots of large empty rooms and it's not clear from the map whether some areas are locked due to abilities and some just closed. (I'm sure there were red doors early one but I don't seem to see now, when the floating glowing triangles are next obvious blocker)

When this game works it absolutely sings but every so often there's some oddities.

Just finished, and for me this is a superb game. I know a few people were put off by the price - fair enough - but fwiw I easily have got my money’s worth from this, and highly recommend it if you see it in a sale.

It has taken me about 18 or so hours to do the main quest and only some of the side quests - I ended up with a 60-something per cent completion.

The boss battles are VERY hard, and some of the platforming is extremely challenging but always ‘feels’ doable, and you never lose too much progress (well, unless you ‘totally’ die, I think).

Loads of fun, plenty of challenge and a quirky nostalgia hit, too. Good stuff!

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

I don't see why the price is an issue. It's a "full" game and a lower end of full price.

It's worth mentioning as well if any Mandatory platform sections are too hard, you can turn on option to skip them, in accessibility options. (Not for any platform puzzles to bonus items etc)

A bunch of free updates on the way:
Permadeath mode and speedrun mode next week.
Boss rush mode in Spring.
New combat, puzzle and platform challenges, and new amulets, in Summer.

Then paid story DLC later in the year.

For now: a hefty 40% off on all platforms, making it about £27 for the standard edition.

The current sale is really tempting me. But I currently have seven other Metroidvanias ready to start so I can't really justify it. :(

Will the fact that the game doesn't remember that you're sprinting between screen transitions help put you off?

Feel bizarre for a game lauded with adding some great QoL additions to the metroidvania genre to miss out something even Super Metroid had.
