On PES it's not always instantaneous depending on the position and movement of your player. It's something you learn to judge naturally and so those of us who have played last year's edition probably don't notice.

Just like real football, you can't actually kick the ball before your feet are in position and you've moved your leg, even longer if you're sprinting or turning. They've actually upped the range in this, I see more back heels and players stretching to hit the ball from awkward positions while remaining integral to how real footballers move.

I haven't played Fifa at all and played lots of 2017 so wouldn't say that's the reason. I thought the players just seemed slower to react; more like waiting for an animation to complete before the button press registered. Just seemed sluggish to me compared to last years. Though maybe just need more playtime and could also be down to my laggy pes connection. Am hoping for more success tonight.

Very happy crossing has been nerfed though I think the dribbling might be this year's crossing. Too overpowered, especially combined with the seemingly weaker defending.

Got on a bit better with this last night, for what little I got to play. Didn't seem quite as sluggish, now that I've got used to it a bit. My connection keeps dropping out though, so haven't got to play a full match as yet. Wish they had included a single player option in the demo.

It's not the proper demo: that is still to come. This must just be to test the MP.

I agree, though: I couldn't actually play last night as I couldn't find a matched game.

Great success tonight; got my PES online issues sorted I think!

After a bit of searching, found a suggestion to change the port settings in pes system settings. Lo and behold, 3 games later, no lag and no issues disconnecting! Woohoo!

So, yes, this played a helluva lot different without the sluggishness I had before. The games were as fast and end to end as 2017. Perhaps even more so, due to the constant exchange of possession, with stray passes and bobbling balls.

I'm liking how the keepers push their saves out and have had some great long range hits. Still not a clue what to do with the free kicks tho and it would be nice to have a cross (high or low) connect a bit more often than it does. Also, a bit disappointed with the ai not making runs ahead of the player with the ball. Overall though it's starting to grow on me. Just need more playtime!

Will that work on 2017?! What were the settings you changed?

Haven't tried with 2017 yet, but I'm fairly certain it'll work for it too. This is what I changed to inside pes menus :

System settings >
Port settings >
Auto settings off >
Udp port number 32767

Am looking forward to non lagging games / disconnects against the grade crew now :)

Also, played another few matches and have got the hang of crossing; just took a bit of practice. Tho low crosses are still tricky. Maybe I'm just pretty good (ahem) but have been blowing away the opposition in every game I've played with a string of 3-0s; finding it a bit easier so far. Could just be crappy opponents tho!

Managed to score some great goals too. Coutinho volley drilled into bottom corner from outside box, firmino overhead kick and a neymar flick. Liking it. Don't think you've anything to worry about jawa with your pre-order!

That sounds great, dmin :toot: .

I'm holding off from the beta, though... gonna carry on playing the 2017 version* until the new edition releases :-) .

* And I'm getting my butt kicked at the moment :x  .

Cool, cheers for the tip.

I managed to play one game of this last night and it was still laggy, but I think my OH was watching netflix upstairs so that will have crippled it :slol:

I think I like it. The weight of everything, especially the ball, feel so different, and I do worry about how dominant dribbling is going to be this year. I need to play an offline demo to judge the game properly, I think.

I'm not used to playing with a team as good as Brazil, so that felt a bit weird

The matchmaking on the co-op mode seems to be working now, it's a lot of fun, provided you're matched with decent partners who actually pass the ball. You get ratings for lots of different areas of your play too, including passing, shooting, attacking runs, defensive positioning etc. I assume the intention is to encourage people to actually play co-operatively.

dmin, you know where I am if you need a deadly finisher. One who won't, say, miss a barn door from six yards :shifty: .

So, I'm almost certainly in from day one on this. Will any of you guys use headsets while playing co-op? I know you tend not to, jawa - but I do think it'd help the co-op loads.

It's a lot harder to score on this thanks to the keepers, if you simply aim your shot in the direction that your player is facing they'll save almost every time.

You have try and fool them on one-on-ones.

Yeah, will do. Will be much more fun yelling expletives at whoever messes up! :)

Jawa, you're hired!

I'm really loving the co-op on this, it almost feels more satisfying putting someone clean through on goal with a well timed pass than scoring yourself. It reminds me a little of Rocket League, not in terms of gameplay obviously but the teamwork aspect.

Just had two really good partners which resulted in an 8-2 win for us. Scored over 2,000 points for the first time too.
