They're not too bad either, and with Salah they've got a quality player who can get you goals. I've played 3 games with them and got 2 wins and a draw so I think I'll stick with them for awhile...

Good to hear that you're still playing, sawyer! Like you, I prefer to stick with a slughtly lower team than the "top" ones but, man, it's tough to get things to go your way. You can have a stack of posession but then, say, Ronaldo will score with a screamer from one of their chances. Division 6 is pretty good going; I'm back in Div 8 even though I almost made it to 4 just a few seasons ago!

I'm taking a little break from PES at the moment. Well, it's been 24 hours now, anyway :shifty: .

In my last four games I lost the first two before winning the third, and so I needed a win in my final game to get promotion. I'd miscalculated the points I needed and Egypt wouldn't give me enough, so I ended up using Excelsior from the Eredivisie. Funnily enough my opponent was using Egypt!

They had one of their midfielders sent off in the first half and so I ended up comfortably winning 3-1. Back to the heady heights of Divison 5 :toot: Hopefully I don't get immediately relegated like last time...

Nice going, sawyer! Sounds llike you're on fire at the mo'!

I had three games this afternoon... drew one and lost two. Looks like relegation again. Have lost my way a bit and am probably "trying too hard". I think I've gotta spend some time not worrying about the results; just chill whilst playing and see how things go.

Jawa, why don't you try being better teams?

I... don't know, shadow. I've got a thing about not selecting a "top" team even though most folk do; it feels a bit "cheaty".

I have more respect for the great players who use lower teams and then play with wonderful skill. I'd like to be like that but I'm not good enough. And then I moan about it.

I'm not gonna drop the game, though. I will play around with a few different teams, not get frustrated about my playing record and change my attitude to be more chilled.

It's funny how things go. Following two seasons of getting my butt kicked constantly, I've just guided Villareal to promotion to Online Division 7. Played 8, won 3, drew 4 and lost 1. Dominated the play in my final two matches against Real Madrid (1-1) and Chelsea (0-0), too, but couldn't quite translate the shots into goals; their keeper Cortouis was MOTM in that final game.

So, after that "crying" time I've got (a little bit) gud again.

Liverpool have definitely been made a bit over-powered in the last update. You hardly used to see people selecting them... and now I've played four matches on the bounce against people using them :fp:  .

Using Villarreal, they've finished 2-3, 2-0, 2-3 and 3-1.

Salah is like a bionic man; he is so fast and doesn't appear to run out of stamina  .

Still nabbed a 2-1 victory against Liverpool using Villarreal, though 8-) .

Villarreal, playing away at Marseille, were down to 10 men on 43 minutes after having a central defender sent off. Edged a goal straight away to go 1-0 up at half-time... and then stormed to a 3-0 victory through great passing play and two lovely goals. My opponent was pausing the game constantly and carrying out numerous fouls at the end of the game. The tears were delicious  .

Been captured by Jawa's black hole (oo-er) and fell into an uncontrollable descent from division 5 to 8. I don't know what's happened me, struggling to score and conceding loads; even against crappy players I should be beating.

Need to make dmin great again!

I don't know what it is, dmin, but it feels like there are numbers "behind the scenes" that determine whether you're gonna go on a good or bad run. I was on a terrific run and *almost* made it to Div 4... and then, like you, dropped down to Div 8. It's quite odd. Keep battling, dude!

I'm in Online Division 7 at the moment and, man.... so much Liverpool! I think folk have cottoned on to how (unrealistically) sharp and quick they are following the last update and four of my past five matches have been against them :fp: .

I've just had a light amongst the gloom, though. Playing as Villarreal against Liverpool, my opponent was a class act; loads of skill, quick movement and he knew all the tricks. He quickly went 2-0 up but then it became apparant he had another facet; that of being a total knob. He was passing the ball around endlessly to his keeper and back; and I couldn't get my players near enough to pinch the ball.

But then... I got a toe on the ball, stole it from his keeper and scored. And, right from the kick-off, he scored an incredible own goal, battering it over his own keeper from about 45 yards. He had been trying to get it back so that he could sit on the ball again... but cocked it up and it was now 2-2!

Of course, at this point he decided to play attacking football again, turning on all the skills and creating chances. But I was absolutely determined that he wasn't gonna score; it was real "backs to the wall" stuff! I fought like a dog and held out for the 2-2 draw.

Against such a knob, it felt like a victory :toot: :datass: .

Tl;dr I got a respectable draw against a good-but-flash git :) .

Just taken Villarreal to promotion to Online Division 6. Played 8, won 5, drew 2 and lost 1. No need for the final two games... points attained 8-).
Athletico Madrid 0-1 Villarreal
Villarreal 1-1 Real Madrid
Sevilla 0-1 Villarreal
Villarreal 3-2 Juventus
Villarreal 2-1 Chelsea
Man Utd 2-2 Villarreal
Villarreal 3-4 Juventus
Barcelona 0-2 Villarreal

Edit: I've now played three matches in the new Division 6 season and gained lousy results. The cycle of PES  .

Managed to revert my downward spiral; back up to 5, but just got demoted to 6. Things are clicking again and all is right in the world! Hallelujah! :D

Good going, dmin! I played a couple more matches and I've got a tough challenge to stay in Div 6; I think I need to take Villarreal to two victories in the final three games. We'll see!

Have you ever managed to get to Division 4 Jawa? I think 5 is my wall. Came close to 4 once, but generally keep bouncing between 6 and 5.

I won, lost and won in those final three games, finishing on a P10, W4, D2, L4 record. Good enough to keep Villarreal in Div 6 :-).

Div 5 is the highest I've got to, dmin. I missed out on promotion to Div 4 by just a few points... and then ended up in Div 8 after a terrible run of defeats! I've turned things around again since then, but Div 6 seems to be the highest I'll go with Villarreal.

Just got relegated to Division 7 with Villarreal :( . I just needed one win out of my final two matches to stay up. In the first match I lost 3-2 to Real Madrid and, in the final match, I switched to Saint Etienne and lost 2-1 to France.

In both matches I played well but, against the bigger teams, if they get a chance then the quality of their finishing is a killer. I had more possession and shots on target in both matches but, of course, it all comes down the the goals. I feel about as done over as Australia were ealier today!

On a really rough run with Villarreal. Down in Online Division 8 and, in my opening six games, I've drawn 2 and lost 4.
0-1 Man City
1-1 Real Madrid
0-2 Spain
2-3 Spain
1-1 Real Madrid
0-1 Brazil

I'm playing okay but, against these team with higher qualities, it's a struggle. Ho-hum, things will turn around soon.

I recall that a few GRcadians mentioned that they only play older versions of the game... well, if you're interested, the 2018 version is currently £5.79 for Plus members on the PlayStation Store.

EA are snapping up most of the licences for FIFA, gamerforever. PES will have a few... but hopefully the edit feature will continue to resolve this issue :-).
