I doubt it very much, you can't in games like Little Big Planet. At most you might get some in-game credits like Forza paint jobs.

MM, not everything has to be an PlayStation vs Xbox battle! ;)

Little Big Planet has some clever levels which are effectively self sufficient games but the problem is they all have that LBP look because they use the same characters and aesthetic craft look. I don't think there would be a paid for market for user designed custom LBP levels.

Project Spark has no main game, it is purely game creation. And from I've seen it doesn't have a fixed graphical look. It can make Minecraft and Fable recreations and probably infinitely more. This means it could be a legitimate game creation tool without programming. It could make games that are more visually impressive then many indie titles. So I think there is brilliant potential in this. The down side would be that the low barrier to entry (no programming) would mean any Tom, Dick or Harriet would want to self publish and this would be a logistical nightmare for MS who have to check a ton of crappy first try games. But if Spark games were all put into one section of the Live store and monetised, it could work!

Microsoft used to run competitions for using the XNA environment so they might do that again but more publicly to promote this tool. I think the winner(s) were released on XBL Arcade.

“Project Spark Starter Pack,” the Xbox One retail version of the game that has put the powers of creation and play in the hands of gamers, will arrive in stores on October 7 in the Americas, October 9 in Asia-Pacific countries and October 10 in Europe.

The retail package will deliver an incredible collection of premium content for $39.99, including the first sci-fi pack “Galaxies: First Contact,” the warrior champion Sir Haakon “Hawk” the Knight, “Champions Quest: Void Storm,” the first episode of an epic campaign adventure, and more. The “Project Spark Starter Pack” will provide immediate access to some of the best paid content, features and add-ons in a single package. All of the content included in the disc version will also be available digitally for Xbox One and Windows 8.1 on launch day.

“Project Spark” has made a name for itself as one of the most unique, innovative games available, and can be downloaded for free on Xbox One and Windows 8.1. Players can then expand their experience by purchasing additional in-game content. The beta has been going strong since December of last year, and with the launch of the “Project Spark Starter Pack” the game will officially move out of beta to full release.

Don’t fret, creators – if you’ve been playing, creating, unlocking and enjoying the existing beta on Windows 8.1 or Xbox One, the game will simply receive an update, so your credits, creations and favorite levels will remain intact. And if you haven’t been playing, what are you waiting for? Go download it today from the Xbox One marketplace or Windows 8 Store!

http://news.xbox.com/2014/07/games-proj ... um=twitter

Over one million beta users have created content in Project Spark, which will be available upon the game's commercial launch. You'll even be able to earn Achievements by playing this user-created content.

An Xbox 360 version of Project Spark was initially announced, but no mention of it is made here. When asked about it, a Microsoft representative told us: "We absolutely plan to bring Project Spark to Xbox 360. Our team is focused on creating a great experience on Xbox One and Windows 8.1 first, and will then bring that to Xbox 360. We don't have a timeline to share right now, but it's certainly on our roadmap."

Good to see some retail presence, hopefully the 360 version will come out asap afterwards.

Characters and textures all look shiny. Besides that an excellent trailer, perfectly captures the vibe and I love the bit with the Project Eden tree at the end as it underlines the game's own branding.

The flame wars in the YouTube comments section are hilarious!

Didn't you hear, shiny is next gen. Or a least it was. In 2005.

NEW CONKER GAME COMING TO PROJECT SPARK APRIL 23

The naughty little scamp known as Conker the Squirrel is returning in a play and create experience inside Microsoft's Project Spark on April 23.

Developed by Project Spark creator Team Dakota with the Project Spark engine, 'Conker's Big Reunion' will be an ongoing episodic series set ten years after after Conker’s 2001 adventure Bad Fur Day. Just like that last outing, Conker's Big Reunion will have a distinctively adult flavor, and focus on a washed-up Conker trying to get himself together to attend a reunion with his friends at the er, 'Cock and Plucker'.

"We currently don’t have our ESRB rating back so we’re not sure, but the focus was to be true to the Conker spirit" said Conker's Big Reunion Creative Director Henry Sterchi of the game's tone. "This meant self-deprecating humor, jokes referencing the original, game jokes and parodies, partying, some adult language, acting quite silly, a bit of violence, and a lot of poo of course. Conker has always had a wit to the humor and we focused a bit more on the layered joke approach this go around, but there’s definitely some shock value moments and a bunch of “I can’t believe he/they just said that” types of laughs."

Conker fans will be happy to hear Chris Seavor is returning to voice Conker, and Team Dakota has worked closely with original Conker developer Rare throughout the development process.

"When the opportunity for Conker came up, we reached out [to Rare] and shared our general plan to make sure we were on the right track", said Sterchi.

"As we got near E3, we knew we needed the original Conker, so we reached out to Chris Seavor, who was no longer at Rare. When we shared the plan and showed him what Project Spark was, he was excited to bring in Conker. Rare gave us all the original assets we’ve needed, including the original music. Pretty much everything from tone, to scenarios, to music, etc. Rare has given feedback and help all along the way, it’s been tremendous. They really care immensely about the characters and giving them to the fans to create with."

The Conker Creation Pack will give Project Spark players approximately 300 Conker assets - characters, props, terrain materials, effects - inspired by Conker’s Bad Fur Day. Remastered original music and audio files will also be available to play with.

The inclusion of Conker in Project Spark was announced at Microsoft's E3 conference last year, and marks the first time an external IP has been made available inside the game making software.

"It all started with a Twitch stream and a tweet. Phil Spencer had just been on our Twitch channel playing Project Spark games people made and got a tweet earlier on asking to put Conker into Spark. Everyone thought it was a great idea and that started to get the ball rolling", said Sterchi.

"The team was really excited because there was a lot of love and nostalgia around Conker (funny enough, one of our designers was even a tester on the original way back). Conker broke so much new ground back in the day. From breaking the 4th wall, to the quality and richness of the characters and world they created, to the humor, and what was one of - if not the first real “reluctant hero".

"Ultimately...it was the freedom of expression and unleashing the unexpected that made Conker a perfect fit for Spark because that is really what Spark means to our creators. Conker is that personified!"

The Conker play and create experiences will be available individually and bundled as digital downloads via the Project Spark marketplace on April 23.

Two summers ago, at E3 2013, Microsoft revealed Project Spark to the world. Its idea, vision and tools have inspired millions of creators. To say thanks, we want to give the community a lot to celebrate with. That’s why we’re kicking off our Summer of Spark with Double XP and Conker’s Big Reunion Episode 1 virtually for free!

The summer event starts this Friday, June 12 at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. GMT) and continues through to Monday, June 15 at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. GMT).

Here is what you’ll be able to get in Project Spark during that timeframe:

Er... so, this was hyped as the next big thing, and it doesn't seem very big at all. What's the skinny? Can I download it for free on my 360?

The 360 version has been quietly cancelled. The X1/PC versions went entirely Free To Play yesterday -

Project Spark Transitioning to Free Incubation Engine

On October 5, Project Spark will be rolling out its biggest update and platform change. This update overhauls many Project Spark systems and areas. The biggest change is a shift from a free-to-play model to a free and open creation platform. What does that mean? This will automatically unlock previously paid downloadable content for new and existing Project Spark users. Microsoft will pivot from producing DLC and active feature development to encouraging more user generated content and opening the Project Spark experience.

Project Spark’s goal has always been to empower creativity. We’ve been an incubation engine for ideas from epic to artistic and we plan to continue doing so. Project Spark inspires and empowers over 200,000 creators who have shared tens of millions of custom objects, behaviors and experiences. Every day we see anywhere between 300 and 400 new games being uploaded on our platform. Our support of these creators and our communications with them will continue in an open, free and collaborative environment.

In light of these changes to a fully free model, all players who have purchased Project Spark digital content on or after July 28, 2015, purchased a retail disc and activated it by product key redemption on or after July 28, 2015 or have a remainder balance of purchased in-game tokens will be entitled to Windows Store credit equivalent to their money spent. Windows Store credits will be awarded automatically to all users within 30-60 days after October 5. If you have additional concerns, we have a full FAQ on our refund process.

Additionally, today’s released content packs are our last planned DLC. With a total of 46 released packs and 2,000+ assets, we feel like we’ve gotten to a good place with our content offers for creators. This also means that we will no longer create episodic adventures, including future Conker’s Big Reunion episodic content. We’ll leave it up to you to continue his story in whatever ways you want, and we can’t wait to see what you create!

Alongside these larger changes, Project Spark will roll out a number of different content, updates and features to further unlock and amplify your experience. The new Project Spark Title Update, arriving on October 5, will include features like:

The maximum terrain limit in creations has been doubled (on top of Massive World Builder)
The maximum prop limit in creations has been increased by 500 (on top of Massive World Builder)
200+ new assets will be added in game, including a dragon, goblin warlord, bog biome and a set of new primitive building blocks
Each creator will now have a total of 100 Upload Slots for their creations
UGC ranking will be based on downloads and favorites, instead of upvote/downvote ratings
The Project Spark Marketplace has been removed
The Project Spark Tour and Treasure Trove have been removed
Achievements have been revamped for players and creators

For more details on this announcement and the upcoming Project Spark update, read our full release notes and content breakdown.

Cancelled.

After much consideration, Microsoft and Team Dakota have decided to discontinue support for “Project Spark.”

Starting 5/13/16, “Project Spark” will no longer be available for download on the Xbox Marketplace or Windows Store. For existing users of “Project Spark,” online services will be unavailable after 8/12/16. Without services, players will no longer be able to download user-generated content or upload their own creations. If you want to access user-generated content offline, you will need to download this content prior to 8/12/16. Be sure to download your favorite community creations and your own uploads if they are not saved locally. We’re also aware that after transitioning “Project Spark” to be a free incubation engine last fall, that some players might still have purchased the game at retail, and have outlined steps about obtaining a credit for those players below.

This was an extremely difficult decision for our team that we do not take lightly. When "Project Spark" transitioned away from active development last fall, many of our team members moved to other projects within Microsoft Studios. While this means there have been no layoffs at Microsoft, it also means it’s simply no longer feasible to continue the behind-the-scenes work involved with keeping “Project Spark” up and running with meaningful updates and bug fixes, so we have come to this hard decision.

Despite this news, we want to celebrate the accomplishments of our team and community of creators and players. Our team released 46 content packs, thousands of assets and 16 updates since launch (averaging more than one update every two months). We produced hundreds of livestreams and videos to educate and celebrate our community. In turn, our passionate fans have then gone above and beyond supporting “Project Spark” by uploading hundreds of thousands of creations and dreaming up millions of objects, behaviors, and experiences. Outside the game, they created fan sites, tutorials, forums, apps, and more! We thank everyone who has played or created anything within “Project Spark,” as it would have never existed without you.

As mentioned earlier, for players who purchased and redeemed the “Project Spark Starter Kit” sold in retail outlets will receive a credit to their Microsoft account. If you purchased and redeemed the code inside a retail copy of “Project Spark” after Oct. 5, 2015 and before today, you will receive a credit that can be used to purchase content in the Xbox or Windows store. Credits will be granted automatically to eligible customers. For more information, please visit http://xbox.com/spark.

We can’t thank our creators and players enough. It’s been an incredible journey to share with you all!

Shame. Had plenty of potential, but I guess Minecraft is the focus these days.
