That's what I was thinking, all the way through (except I thought of it as a cat/bird). The game is going be heaving with melancholy.

I was half expecting E3 to take away one of my few justifiable reasons for wanting a PS3 (MGS4 on 360). If this game turns out as expected, I'll definitely be buying one.

Wow that giant puppy thing looks...hilarious

This reminds me, I've still not completed Shadow of the Colossus.

Anyone who thinks that is anything to do with a dog is mental. It's clearly a cat/eagle/rat hybrid.

How wonderfully PlayStation.

Off the wall, but not so off the wall I can't buy into it. I think it looks incredible.

I bet the thing will be called Trico too. It sounds like the name of a cat/eagle/rat hybrid.

Baby Griffin?

Plus, do you notice that it's covered with arrows when it's in the water?

Yeah, it's a type of gryphon, surely? Not rat/cat/bat hybrid.

It's going to make me cry, isn't it?

There are arrows in its torso at other points in the clip, too. And it might just be me, but in later sections of the vid it looks bigger (as do its wings), which leads me to believe that it's going to grow throughout the game, presumably as you feed it.

Oh God. Just had a thought...

What if it gets to the stage where it gets too big, and you're going to end up having to kill it? :(

Llet's hope this isn't as cripplingly dull and obsessed with being art as the first game was. That was so busy being art, it forgot to be a game.

That video was absolutely enchanting.

I felt the same way after playing the Ico demo, and watching the SotC opening video. I already feel gripped and interested but I have a horrid sense of foreboding that I will feel emotionally crippled when we get to play the full game.

Ico was an amazing game and experience. No other game I had played before gave me such an emotional experience without much in the way of narrative. I highly doubt you played the game more than 10 mins with such a statement.

I bet one of those emotions wasn't "fun". Which is what games (clue's in the name) are supposed to be.

ALL GAMES MUST BE THE SAME

We'll have none of that emotional gooseberry fool around here, poofs.

It's not a traditional gryphon, though - that generally had the head (and often wings) of an eagle and the body of a lion. This looks more like a domestic feline, with an eagle's body and beak and a very rat-like tail. I suppose the closest equivalent is a gryphon, but it's not quite the same.

And yes, it's going to make us all blubber like babies.

This, Ico was amazing. I cried a little the first time I lost Yorda!

MCN, games don't have to be all laughter, why do you think people watch sad films or read depressing books? It's a wonderful emotional experience.
