He's overly cynical about everything. His podcast is terrible for this, too. I had to stop listening to it because it was too depressing
I dont think hes overly cynical about everything, i think he jsut tends to have fairly polarizing opinions. He gave Dead Rising 4, a game youd expect him to tear to shreds, an 8/10. He also gave Far Cry Primal a really good score too. I dont think he hates on things just for the sake of being edgy or cynical. I dont always agree with him, but i find his scores would line up with whats in my head alot of time.
either way im still hyped to play TLG tho.
Hmm. His Impressions video for LTG began with him specifically saying his opinion would be contrary to the popular vote, as it were. And FFS, he gave Dishonored 2 5/10 which is just...insane.
If youve played the PC version, a 5/10 is generous for Dishonored 2. I strawberry floating hate that game despite the original being my GOTY for 2012.
My only version is the PC version. And sorry brer but iut really, really isn't. It's not my game of the year but it's real close. What didn't you like, apart from the performance issues which 1) I never experienced and 2) have now been patched?
If you never noticed any performance issues then im happy for you. However the "it works fine for me" defence isnt really applicable when there's still a sizable amount of people suffering from performance issues. Steam reviews are still hovering at "mixed". The performance thread on Gaf is massive, and for the most part, the people having problems outweigh the people not having problems by a massive margin. Ive tried every beta and live patch for the game and performance is still dogshit on a PC that should easily be able to run this game.
That is rubbish. It looks like I just got lucky with my setup
But aside from that the story isnt interesting at all, corvos voice actor sucks, they should have jsut left him mute, the world isn't as interesting as Dunwall, the clockwork soldiers are strawberry floating horse. gooseberry fool. and made the supposed greatest level of all time, the clockwork mansion, and absolute strawberry floating chore. I spent more time reloading after one of them spotted me out the back of its strawberry floating head than i did doing anything else. And the constant strawberry floating chatter out of them drove me mad. If thats the best level the game has to offer i guess i am just mental in the head because suffering through that level combined with the constant FPS drops, made me uninstall the game.
I agree about the story, it's passable but completely uninteresting.
I played through as Emily, whose voice actress was fine. I have heard criticism about Corvo however.
The Clockwork soldiers were an addition to the game. Not a good thing, not a necessarily bad thing. I certainly didn't find they ruined anything, but I suppose that's a personal preference. There's multiple ways of taking them down that means you can avoid direct contact: a stun mine for example takes them down immediately.
I for one didn't rate the Clockwork Mansion as highly as others. It's extremely innovative, but it didn't set my world alight. The time-travel level, however, is genius and up there with Titanfall 2's Effect and Cause for one of the finest levels I've ever played. It's fantastic, and you really have missed a gem by not getting that far.
I really would take issue with your claim that Karnaca isn't as interesting as Dunwall though. As I mentioned before, I think the place is this gen's Rapture. It's so incredibly detailed, with some amazing environmental storytelling, almost limitless alternate routes, a lovely aesthetic and a genuine, rotten charm. I straight up disagree that Dunwall was more involving, somehow.
