Plus, one of the devs was in my form at school. So buy this, dammit!

Demo was pretty cool. Is there anyway to save yet?

How are you supposed to defend yourself against the shotgun wielding invader?

Hide in the bathroom. He'll come into the bedroom and start talking to your wife and while doing so you can just walk up behind him and nail him with the hammer.

Just downloaded the demo. The controls are a bit of a pain, would be much easier if you could control the whole thing with the mouse rather than relying on WASD.

Lovely atmosphere though.

Sign up to their forums and add to the thread asking for mouse only controls, if enough people ask for it, they'll do it.

Badly needs the ability to toggle run on and off too.

You just hold the shift button down, why is that difficult?

It's not difficult, just inconvenient if you are travelling long distances around the town or switching between running and attacking. Thought that would have been obvious :? There's a lot of people asking for it on the official forums, along with the ability to remap controls completely.

To be honest, this is something that should be fundamental to any PC game.

Lets people play it in any fashion they want, and allows for other control devices to be mapped in at a later date.

8 days!

I must admit, it was getting a little tedious towards the end there. Not much to do. I had plenty of food and the zombies weren't coming anywhere near my house. I could have lasted for weeks had I not ventured out to explore.

The ability to only look in 8 directions fundamentally ruins the game if I'm honest. Fix that, tidy up the mechanics and make the starting scenario a bit more exciting/randomise it and we may well be onto a winner.

Even though it appears you can only look in 8 directions, you actually shoot in whichever direction your mouse is pointing. They mentioned this in one of the FAQs on their forum.

I think people are forgetting the game is still in the early stages, and the demo publicly released the other day is just basically a tech demo.

...and a very promising demo at that. If you have the ability to "recruit" or rescue people and set up your own little commune that would be excellent, rather than just wandering around by yourself.

NPCs are coming in the next big update:
Once the public demo is launched and bugs are fixed, we will be focusing our next major update on NPCs, trying to get AI driven NPCs around the map you can get to follow you about, talk to, possibly trade with. We'll see how we go.

The thing I have an issue with is that they have all these grand designs but none of them are in place and they're still charging people £5 a pop. OK, the demo has alleviated some of that but what happens if they give up/run out of money?

Hmm.

Same could have been said for Minecraft in its early days...

Is the melee combat like that? Because it sure doesn't seem that way.

This sort of business style seems to have really taken off with Minecraft, and looks to be doing so with this. Now watch as everyone and their dog tries it and it just utterly fails for 99% of them. Much like 'indie' games before them.
