Is the melee combat like that? Because it sure doesn't seem that way.

This sort of business style seems to have really taken off with Minecraft, and looks to be doing so with this. Now watch as everyone and their dog tries it and it just utterly fails for 99% of them. Much like 'indie' games before them.

yeah melee combat is like that, i recommend combining the baseball bat, nails and hammer for the spiked club for maximum pwnage!

Saw this post from one of the devs on the RPS forums http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/forums/ ... g-to-Steam
I should clarify on this since it's now out there. It's not quite as exciting as 'being on Steam', at least not yet, but Valve have done us a massive favour in allowing Project Zomboid to use their servers and auto-updating and whatnot. We won't appear on the store and Steam accounts will only be via redeem codes, so purchases will still be through our site. It's possible we'll pop up on the Store at some point in the future when the game has more content and is more complete, but none of that is for sure at the moment.

Being huge Steam fans ourselves we'd gladly use Steam exclusively, but the fact of the matter is the game is also on Linux, and as such we still need to maintain our own version so Linux users are not left out.

Anyone who has already purchased, or who purchases in the future, will have the option of a Steam key for the game. :)

This game reminds me too much of XCom for me to not want to get it.

In fact, it looks eerily like it uses the engine from that game, or an upgraded version of it.

Did you guys see this?

Rubbish news about Project Zomboid:

http://projectzomboid.com/blog/index.php/2011/10/project-zomboid-burglary-statement/

Best of luck to the developers getting something sorted out. :(

I was going to put up some of the tweets posted by one of the developers (@lemmy101) last night, but it looks like he's deleted his twitter account now.

What a shame :(

Shame and all that, but not backing up the code to an external source is a bit :fp:

Agreed. I do really feel sorry for them, but there's a difference between indie and amateur. It seems that my shopping lists are better protected than these guys' code.

They're not really handling themselves well on Twitter, getting a lot of abuse for not having backups of the code and one of the devs appears to have deleted his account. They should have just said "we've been robbed and lost our recent code. We'll get past this and get back to where we were as quickly as possible" instead of going on a drunken ramble and responding to all the abuse in such a manner.

When I had an iPhone my shopping list was always on the notes app and synced with my Google account

These guys are idiots.

They whine at their whole userbase and claim that they're only responding to the minority who are negative. They strawberry float gooseberry fool up all the time, they're so amateur it's unbelievable. The way they deal with any criticism or backlash is so unbelievably unprofessional that I find it hard to sympathise with them.

Seriously, you should take a look at their Twitters :fp: They don't take criticism well at all, both with this and when they were promising the new update which just ended getting delayed over and over again.

I'm not going to look at their twitter. I mentioned to the guys on facebook that their whining was unprofessional and they implied that I was accusing them of fraud and just being a negative critic.

They're a bunch of idiots, if it's not one thing it's another. I feel sorry for people who have bought this game early in good faith that it would one day be finished.

It will be updated and 'finished', but these guys are just incredibly amateur and unprofessional in their interactions with the community.

This was always the risk of putting money towards a game that had no guarantee of ever being released. Has he completely packed it in then?

No way, this is their baby. He was just drunk and crying like a little bitch to the internet mob

This game isn't being abandoned, they're just going to have to redo whatever they had stolen. It's going to kill their desire somewhat over having to recover lost ground, but there is no way they are giving up on the game. It's a little goldmine and their first step out into the real world. Even the modders have created stuff for it, they've got their own maps ready to be stitched in. Even if they abandoned the game, which isn't going to happen, the modders will just carry it on, it's got a popular niche that are tech savvy enough to do so.

Edit: he even released an apology today about yesterday.
