Since I have no new games at the moment, I decided to fire up the Vita and play something from my huuuuge backlog. Saw that I had the Jak & Daxter Trilogy in my download list. Haven't played any games in this series before. Must have been free with PS+ at some point?

Anyway, I fire the first game up and...... oh my strawberry floating god the frame rate  It actually unplayable. It almost gave me a headache just moving the camera. Then I tried Jak 2 and somehow it's even worse. How did this collection get released in this state?

That collection is such a gooseberry fool show. I love Jak and Dexter and have got 100% many times on both ps2 and the ps3 hd one. It's out on the vital?! Ohhhh my God portable Jak.

*half and hour later*

What the strawberry float is this gooseberry fool

I can put up with some jank, but the controls have lag. Lag on double jumping in a platform game ffs.

Please don't think poorly of Jak and Daxter because of this.

Play the HD trilogy on PS3 or wait for the PS4 classics release later this year

Been playing my Vita a lot lately, don’t have access to my consoles or tv at the minute. How great do some of the games look on this, by the way?! Killzone looks mental.

You playing on 1000 or 2000? I love the screen on the former despite some early teething OLED flaws, colours pop so nicely. I've heard the LCD on the 2000 is still excellent so would be curious to hear your thoughts if it's that.

OLED supremacy. Bought it off an old poster, final-fx.
The buttons and nubs are a bit small and fiddly for me so I’m not a fan of anything too taxing, God of War is as far as I’ll go.

The analogs are a bit small aye, generally usable but modular movements are difficult. Even then, they're so much better than the PSP's nub *shudder*

Do recommend using a grip if you can find one, does wonders for comfort. Though obviously you have to make sure it's for 1000s

Manufacturing of the Vita will cease next year and Sony has no plans for a successor.

Sony Interactive Entertainment senior vice president Hiroyuki Oda wrote:Currently, we do not have any plans regarding a new handheld device. In Japan, we will manufacture PlayStation Vita until 2019. From there, shipping will end.

Source.

I've never even used a Vita although it seems to be a highly-regarded console. It always felt as if Sony never really supported it, particularly in the West.

There's no way they'll make another portable. The Vita was an amazing bit of hardware. Apart from the storage and the almost total lack of support.

Just started Zero Time Dilemma today. Why all the hate? Maybe it's better I don't know if it's spoiler related story beats, but I have really enjoyed the first 2 escape rooms.

Literally only played vita for both the Ys games that released on there lol. I'm well aware of the great library but overall it just didn't grab me as much as I thought it would.

I loved playing Tearaway on the Vita, it used all the features brilliantly

I loved my vita, played it more than my ps3 for a good couple of years, but then the shoddy performance of cross buy ports started putting me off getting any new games.

Dat screen :datass:

I won a vita in a competition to come up with the safe-for-console name for Stealth Bastard, I used it a couple of times and then sold it. It was a great machine but just didn't have the library for me.

The title says it all, the Vita was a wonderful indie machine and had some few but fantastic games otherwise. The switch is essentially the Vita successor in my eyes, so I'm fine seeing the little guy go into retirement. It's just a shame it never got more recognition and support!

I don't think Sony have the appetite for another dedicated portable after the Vita, but I can see them releasing a PS4 portable down the line or something similar.

PIcked up a Viat to play Tearaway, played it loved it, tried out some PS+ games and that was about it really. It was a fantastic little machine but it suffered from horrible support.

Finally got around to modding my Vita since it was still on Firmware 3.68 which is the latest version that can currently be modded (3.69 and 3.70 Firmware are also now out, there is a 3.69 hack but it's not publicly available yet).
Have also ordered an adapter to let me use a MicroSD card and be free of the Vita Memory card forever :toot:

It's not as great as the first two, I suppose.

I did enjoy Zero Time Dilemma, but the story isn't as brilliant as 9.9.9. or VLR.
