Ironically.

Really, I love my Vita. I have tonnes of games for it and it's perfect for playing stuff while the Mrs watches crap TV.

I will soon start commuting on public transport again and I expect the Vita to come into its own at that point.

I can see no real reason why the system isn't doing well - it has an amazing software library and, in Tearaway, a world-class piece of software that should be remembered for (gaming) generations to come.

Just wondering here but who uses the Vita with the PS4. What are peoples experiences of using the vita for PS4 games, does it work well.

It does work very well techincally, but I find that it's very cumbersome for games that use the PS4's L2/R2 shoulder buttons a lot, so I find it doesn't suit games like inFamous: Second Son for example. As they are mapped to the rear touch controls on the vita.

So I find there's no point of it at the moment until there's games that doesn't use those buttons (Hello P.T. Demo!)

I personally didn't like it. The shoulder button mapping just didn't click with me, though perhaps I could have tried for longer.

It doesn't work via remote connection*, but if you link directly to your PS4 (ie stay in the same building) then the streaming (or whatever the tech is called) is fine.

I have tried Resogun - too fast and twitchy for the small screen - and Ass Creed Black Flag, which was ok, but the ship battles were too hard with the shoulder buttons mapped to the rear touch pad.

I suspect it might be ok with something like Don't Starve, and other, slower-paced games, or perhaps Zen Pinball, which has a simple control scheme, but I haven't tried it.

TBH, I've got enough games on each console to not have to bother using the Vita for my PS4 titles.

* OK, it technically works, but it's not usable. I left my PS4 on standby one weekend when I went down south. 200 miles away, it was quite cool to show my brother MGS Ground Zeroes on a handheld, running a PS4 so far away, but really, the graphics were breaking up and it was laggy.)

ok , interesting i'm guessing it probably works best with more indie based games that don't use the extra shoulder buttons.

I assume you've got the bundle I posted in the bargains thread? Wipeout 2048 is a cracker of a game.

One of the main downsides of the Vita is that the save game is baked into the game files in the case of downloads. This combined with the high memory card prices means that downloads are a headache. The solution is PlayStation Plus, which allows you to upload your save files (on their own) to the cloud automatically, which means you can delete games with impunity. There's some setup involved (on the pre-game screen, press the Plus icon, and then check "Upload Save Automatically" in the purple menu that appears. You can also upload and download saves from this menu).

Oh, and you'll also get a pile of games to play for the length of your subscription. Right now, you can get Lego Harry Potter Years 5-7, Proteus, Metrico and Fez for your Vita, but tomorrow they will be switching to Velocity 2x, TxK, PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale and Joe Danger. Remember to "buy" all of the games that are available for free in your Instant Game Collection regardless of what platform they're on, just in case you buy the console later.

Yeah, I went with the deal you posted. I have PS+ so cloud saves will be used, and I have about 50 Vita games I've "claimed" from PS+ over the past couple of years, so I already have plenty to play :D

You can back up the saves on a PC/Mac/PS3 too.

I'm currently downloading Fez, Gravity Rush, Guacamelee!, Lumines: Electronic Symphony and WipEout 2048.

Does Dual have a Vita? I'd love to school him at the latter, just for old time's sake.

If you have a Vita then you really should own DanganRonpa, it's basically a dark and twisted version of Phoenix Wright. Best to play without reading up on it, think it's on sale now.

I saw this during Sony's pre-TGS conference, and thought the art style looked great, and judging from this video it seems to have some interesting gameplay mechanics too. One I'll be keeping an eye on.

Just discovered a video of a game called Ys: Memories of Celceta. Does anyone have this, is it any good? It looked interesting, but still appears a bit pricey, so would want to be sure before a purchase.
