PostPS3 & HDMI Picture Quality Issue
by plaido » Thu Nov 19, 2009 7:03 pm

I've just starting using my new PS3 with an HDMI cable that I bought off ebay. I've so far played Flower & Uncharted 2 and I've noticed in both games some graphical anomolies. Sometimes I see jagged edges to objects in the background (almost like the PS2 days) and I've noticed missing pixels from objects when you pan the camera round in Uncharted 2 (the pixels sought of disppear and come back again).

I have the output set to 720p which is the native resolution of my HD TV. The objects in the foreground, such as the character models generally look fine and the signal is definately outputting in HD.

Anyone got any ideas on what the problem could be? - I'm assuming that PS3 games shouldn't have any jaggies or pixelation issues.

Missing pixels does sound like a problem with the HDMI cable, maybe try and borrow an HDMI cable from someone and see if you still get the same issues.

Thanks for the reply.

I got the cable for £3 off Ebay. I was told (and the research I've done backs this up) that any cable will do the job and as its a digital signal it will either work and look fine or it won't work and look ****. However, now I've got this issue, I am suspious of the cable considering how much I paid for it. Maybe I should have just got the official Sony one.
