However, if I were to get a PS3 because of LBP, I would most likely pick up a few of those other exclusives along the way.
Oh, in that case,
YES! I wouldn't worry too much about the "limited time" LBP DLC, as so far you haven't missed anything major as they've only limited the holiday items (and I bet they'll return in some form next year too).
Also thanks for suggesting Valkyria Chronicles. I checked out the game site and I certainly like art style and setting of the game. What does it play like? I don't mind a good RPG, although I always seem to prefer the western styled ones. I guess it's the turned based and random battles that I dislike the most.
It doesn't really play like any other game I can think of. It's a
Real Time but Turn Based Strategy game set during a fictional version of Europe in the middle of events similar to World War II. Think Advance Wars/Fire Emblem, except instead of moving your troops in a grid you actually move them in real time and aim manually. Headshots do more damage than body shots, hit the back back of Tanks for more damage etc... It doesn't use Fog of War either, you can simply see as far as you can see. So hiding behind trees or in tall grass keeps you hidden, but standing in the middle of the open can get you sniped from a mile away. It plays quite like an action game, rather than any comparable strategy game, but it's got just as much, if not more strategy than them too.
The plot, characters, voice work and localisation are all excellent. Melatonin has even given himself a Valkyria Avatar and signature as a sign of how much he loves the game, and Melatonin has a good taste in games. It's packed full of innovation, and really should be declared a sub-genre in it's own right. There is a demo on the PSN that must be tried by everyone who owns a PS3. It's also made by the team that created Skies of Arcadia, if that means anything to you. It's not only one of the best games on the PS3, it's one of the best games I've ever played.
I love it (if that wasn't already obvious!), and anyone with a soul will too!
