PlayStation Network Service Restored

We are aware that the internal clock functionality in the PS3 units other than the slim model, recognized the year 2010 as a leap year. Having the internal clock date change from February 29 to March 1 (both GMT), we have verified that the symptoms are now resolved and that users are able to use their PS3 normally.

If the time displayed on the XMB is still incorrect, users are able to adjust time settings manually or via the internet. If we have new information, we will update you through the PlayStation.Blog or PlayStation.com.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Just tested mine, it showed 29/04/20 as the date on boot up but I've manually changed the clock and signed in. Games are loading ok. Hurrah. This thread was fun yesterday, our finest hour IMO

It was funny yesterday, not so funny today.

Would have been funny if the problem hadn't resolved itself, but it did...so now it's not funny.

I think we've all learnt an important lesson from this.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

Just imagine the sigh of relief when Sony started seeing peoples PS3 turn on after midnight

How Sony are going to be able to spin this is beyond me and they will need to come up with some sort of compensation for the millions who were unable to use their console due to a fault of theirs.

I doubt there'll be any compensation at all, Sony will just bury this and it will never be mentioned ever again by anyone anywhere

In the grand scheme of things, no damage done. We had some worrying times, but we've come through it and the good thing is, the console works and we've not had to send it off for repair.

But lets all spend a minute in silence, for those brave souls (8% of my Ghostbusters trophies) that gave their lives so that their trophy brothers may live, and be counted towards my crap trophy total.

The lesson some of us have learnt is that you should really synch your trophies more often. I'm curious to find out what happens next time I play Ghostbusters. Some of my trophies were for getting all upgrades on the weapons and I have them fully upgraded, will it realise straight away and give me the trophies?

Anyway, with those last thoughts, I bid you all farewell.

I really don't think compensation is necessary tbh :? I mean in the end all that happened was my PS3 was out of action for 6 hours, in which time i recorded some music, packed some stuff and had a good read... If anything I should be THANKING them.

Sony at 12.01 last night:
