PS3 Recommendations

What up homes. I just joined the PS3 crew so I can play The Last of Us, and knowing absolutely nothing about the console other than the top ten or so rated games. I'm looking if possible for some game recommendations, preferably as cheap as possible. Can anyone help?

Buy a PSPlus sub and enjoy a number of games for a whole year. If you subscibe now you'll have access to:

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (play the first two if you can)
XCOM: Enemy Unknown (awesome)
LittleBigPlanet Karting
ICO and Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection (critically acclaimed but may not suit everyone)
Demon’s Souls (tough buy awesome)
Catherine
Malicious
Battlefield 3
Payday: The Heist
Saints Row the Third (GTA 4 with more fun)

If you're looking to buy games then I'd recommend Arkham Asylum and City (GOTY editions). Without a doubt two of the best games I've ever played. Red Dead Redemption has also received a lot of love so keep an eye out for that (GOTY edition). Check out Bioshock if you've played and loved Half-Life.

What DD64 said. Sony might make piss poor HDD caddys, but they have an awesome product in PS+. I am a latecomer so missed a lot of the goodness but it is phenomenal for the price. :wub:

I've heard nothing but awesome things about PSPlus, I'mma get involved with that for sure. Are there any exclusives that I can't play on that but should pick up?

Some find that Uncharted 3 is the weakest of the trilogy so it may be worth hunting down the first two. Little Big Planet 2 is worth picking up if you like platforming. God of War is great if you're feeling destructive and enjoy chaining combos. I never got on with Killzone as a franchise but if you're in the mood for a Sony exclusive shooter, it may be worth your while. People liken Okami to Zelda so if you've never played Okami, now is the perfect chance to pick up the HD remake. It's not technically an exclusive, but the HD remake is exclusive.

Despite all of that, I'd still beeline for Batman if you've never played it. Exclusives are great, but I can't think of any single-player game from this generation that, in my opinion, is as good as Batman. Except Crysis on PC, but let's not get into that.

Some of those are currently in sales on the PSN store (EG and Motorstorm) you get an extra discount if you are on PS+. Obviously there's lots more and no telling if games might get put in PS+ at some point in the future (although inFamous 2 and Motorstorm have already been and gone and Heavy Rain and Valkyria Chronicles aren't on the store so those are pretty safe bets).
