Because Sony.

I think it's because the mode doesn't play nicely with all games. Tbh I leave it off and look to adjust the Pro settings in-game... which don't always exist.

Yeah I had to google 'Outlast 2 digital foundry' to get any sort of answer about that game. I guess I'll have to do the same thing to every game I load up.

That's what I've been doing... Digital Foundry are doing more to explain the benefits of the Pro than Sony is  .

Lovely machine though, isn't it? I miss the light strip on the top but other than that, it's splendid. Lost all my captures though.

I'm not sure what the children in your basement have got to do with the PS4, TBH, or why their escape might be Sony's fault.

It is a terrific machine! I wonder if folk sometimes take my minor criticisms of the console a little personally; I just want Sony to do a bit better job of making use of the power. It is my favourite system to game on at the moment!

As for the light strip, I stand the Pro vertically and so the light on the front looks ace :-) .

It's my only gaming console and I'm personally very happy with it. I have Boost Mode switched on by default, regardless of whether it actually does any good in any particular game. I just like to know that that extra processing power is there, if the game can use it. I like the internal 1TB drive and I like even better the fact I have another 1TB external USB HDD hooked up. Storage is good! I don't have a 4K TV and I've never seen what a game that can run in 4K might look like, but my olde worlde 1080p TV does a fine enough job for me and the PS4Pro seems to make everything look pretty decent. It's good enough for me.

All in all, the PS4Pro hasn't disappointed in any way for me. It was an impulse buy at the time, but I've never looked back. Even got £100 back on my old bog-standard PS4, so can't complain.

Always had Boost Mode since it was updated with it. Noticed improvements to games that haven't been patched with Pro enhancements and never had a game play worse with it enabled.

If you have a Pro, definitely enable Boost Mode. It really does make a nice difference, mainly in loading and frame-rate stability for non-pro patched games. The amount of games Boost mode doesn't play well with are so few and far between, it's silly to not have it on.

I'm currently playing The Witcher 3 and Boost mode really helps it maintain that 30 fps, as confirmed by Digital Foundry. It's soon to be getting a proper pro patch, which will be awesome.

Would the boost mode stop telltale games from being a stuttering mess?

Given that seems present in PS3, Vita and PS4 games I'd kind of assumed it was a trademark feature.
