PostPS4 Pro upgrade question
by Rubix » Thu Sep 28, 2017 4:44 pm

I may look to upgrade my PS4 Which already has a 2TB drive to a PS4 Pro. As I won’t have both consoles to do this, is the only way to do this

Upload saves and PT demo to 3rd external drive
Deactivate PS4 as primary
Add Old 500gb drive and format

Insert 2TB drive so it formats
Download all games
Insert 3rd external HDD and add saves and PT Demo

Did I miss anything?

Sync all trophies first and upload your saves.

Yeah you need to download the "full" firmware version (it'll be a bigger file). Put the file on a USB stick in a /PS4/UPDATE/ folder.

So much to do, why couldn’t they just allow people to swap HDD’s

Keeping all the games intact? Piracy reasons probably.

Yes?

£150 for a newer model with a new warrenty is a good enough reason for me.

Just starting the process now. As long as I keep my game saves and PT I’ll be happy.

Backed up saves to the PSN as well just incase

Couldn’t find the only pros 1tb drive on my pc but managed to change it in disk management although its partitioned in about 10 segments. Any idea how you formate it and get rid of the partition? Want it as an external drive for films

To the best of my knowledge you can’t format a PS4 drive so that it be shared with other devices or used partly for other purposes, Rubix. When it is formatted for the PS4, it is fixed for that usage.

You could later connect it back up to your PC and re-format it for that machine to use, though.

Edit: Uhm... I had thought your query was a recent post. I must have clicked on the Advice tag by mistake :) .
