Will replace the existing PS4 models to become the default.

Every PS4 will be HDR compatible via the patch, including the slim.

I bet you can get this for £220 by Christmas. Or at least heavily bundled. Price point is just a bit high, and uncomfortably close to the Pro, for my liking. Unless that's the point: "Might as well splash the extra £90".

Digital Foundary have written up a hands-on with the Slim.

Main points: Generally much quieter than existing PS4 hardware, uses less power, supports 5 GHz WiFi.

That, in itself, would sell me the system if I wasn't already in line for a Pro.

After a shaky start, I think this thread is coming along nicely.

Uses less power? Hmm...may actually save me money in the long run.

I just saw that there's a 1TB version of this- it costs £309. Yes, a whole £40 cheaper than a Pro. £40 won't even buy you an extra controller. That's like totally wack.

So it turned up yesterday and it's a lovely little bit of kit. It's compact, looks beautiful and it's super quiet.

I used my Dad's one for quite a while. I always found that to be pretty loud.

Because, as I understand it, at the PS4 end, HDR is nothing to do with 4k; it's more to do with the way colours are processed.

You still need a TV that can handle it, and it so happens that the only TVs that can are 4k, but the PS4 can do it ok.

Thanks for clearing that up as i thought you had to output a 4k signal to get it.
