I enjoyed first episode and opening gameplay. I still don't feel I'm using time powers correctly, I reckon I'll get used to them.

Story to me is interesting and some of the sights and sounds look spectacular. Having something in show happen then showing in game how it happened is pretty cool.

I feel skippy comparing the show to "deepest darkest realms is sky TV is a bit harsh". I mean it looks better than anything on Sky 1 for a start. Costume designer needs to to be shot however, the security guys look like idiots with the big M on their uniforms!

Can't wait to play more, I see you went with hard ass choice Glowy, you cold mayne! ;)

Didn't pretty much all the shows go to Sky Atlantic.

Not sure what production company made it, but it could have been a hell of a lot better. The average TV show now is a whole hell of a lot better looking than it used to be, if the first episode of this is an indication then its really pretty poor by the standards set by todays TV shows.

But the thing is that it isn't a TV show, it doesn't have to compare itself to SciFi fare like Continuum because its a game with some live action bits stitched into it.

I had fun playing the game bit and the show compares favourably to the story content of other games, which is really all it needs to do. It just about works because of the novelty of it all, if there's another game like this then it needs to do live action a whole hell of a lot better.

Just to also mention the graphics, at points it really looks amazing...but then a lot of the time the image quality is such that it looks like its an SD game...I don't really have a problem with this either but it does make it pretty hard to judge if it looks amazing or terrible. I guess both is the correct answer.

There's only one ending which is a bit disappointing apparently. Don't know whether to play through once then youtube the other decisions and sell up. Fun game and all but when I eventually complete it I don't really want to go through it again if it means nothing.

The constant time breaking bits in Act 2 were starting to make me feel a bit sick :slol:

Really fun game, nice range of time powers, just a bit daft sometimes when a guy sneaks up behind you, you can't melee him...

No, Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl are all on Sky 1 and they look like garbage in comparison to this, as is Dr Who on the beeb. It's certainly better than MS's Halo live action stuff.

The costume design as I said is questionable and some of the enemies are ill thought out, security numpties then swat guys then guys in black with balaclavas, all very strange when not shooting at them ingame. I also thought the car chase scene was pretty bad, no sense of speed, zero, it looked like car was doing about 15mph!

Is it in Ultra HD or something? I'm guessing at TOPS it has maybe 2.5hrs of footage and thats 76gb! It is VERY clear, pin point clear on my 1080p tv. The acting was perfectly fine, I like Ashmore's portayal of Jack (including the internal dialogue, a remedy staple), and although I feared Aidan Gillen may have phoned in his part (cos he was in zero press coverage) he actually performs well. The Transition from show to game was impressive, I could hear a scene play out that I had watched from behind a wall with the speech being muffled.

I found a fair bit of humour in the game also. I lolled at Jack explaining to [REDACTED] that "time is an egg and its strawberry floated" "why is there and egg, what are you talking about?" "look, erm, time is strawberry floated ok its a strawberry floated egg i think", also the hobbit guy saying "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" when he thinks guards are going to find you both.

According to reviews you get used to the controls and time powers so hopefully that'll mean less headless chicken stuff like I'm doing now. Slow motion exploding of a guy, dashing and capping others can lead to some spectacular gun fights but I'd like to be able to be a bit more graceful than the button mashing I'm doing at mo.

I take HSH's point about the graphics, at times it can look ridiculously good but it does have that filter on it which makes certain things look really weird. Light shafts from a distance look like snow. Close ups on anyone again look brilliant, the lighting generally is also of excellent quality, they show 'normal' things very well if that makes sense. You get the odd points where the filter makes it look blurry, especially indoors. Act 2 has odd time things happening that have nothing to do with me, I'm sure we'll find out why but its odd.

So a few foibles but the story (to me) is top notch and I'm enjoying the game play, not least cos it's not afraid to have slow moments in between the fire fights. Special nod to the radio things you can hear linking to TV show characters (that IT douche) and the emails you can read, very well done and they link perfectly in with whats happening at that time. The cohesiveness is impressive, while on the run, seeing a TV on a wall with Serene talking on screen (the actor) about finding you was immersive stuff, the news depicting choices made etc. I'll play through again on hard choosing different things for the 'chievos.

Yes its not made by Sky...just talking about poor Sci-Fi shows if they were made by McDonalds, Fox or whoever, that's not the point man!

Our very own Skippy wrote this in his review:
the kind of cheap sci-fi drama you might find in the darkest corners of Sky TV

Which I think is VERY harsh considering whats on SyFy these days (and Sky 1)

Anyone that purchases a digital copy of Quantum Break from the Xbox Store or the special Xbox One bundle that Microsoft has planned, gets a token that unlocks the Quantum Break release for Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system. Unfortunately, it’s only a pre-order bonus and specifically meant for Windows 10 devices. The token won’t unlock the game for any other version of Windows.

Pretty sure it is going to be a code (just like you'll get a code for American Nightmare and the original Alan Wake), but I'm also pretty sure it said it would come after Quantum Break launched, I think it said the week after but I guess we'll see.

EDIT - Pretty sure it said 7-10 days on the preorder details actually, but it seems like codes are going out in waves from now, so people could get them earlier.

Remedy posted a FAQ on PC issues:

Quantum Break will be available on Windows 10 only from the Windows Store on Tuesday, 4/5 at 6:00 AM PST. The game is an Universal Windows Application released for on the Universal Windows Platform, meaning that it's the next step in merging Windows and Xbox One into a unified ecosystem. It's a relatively new platform for both Microsoft and developers, and to my knowledge Quantum Break is the third AAA-game ever released on it (after The Rise of Tomb Raider and Gears of War Ultimate Edition). You can expect some bumps in the road during launch, it's a learning experience to us all and hopefully we can try to resolve any issues you might run into.

I pre-ordered the game for Xbox One and haven't received my pre-order bonus item Windows 10 code.
Microsoft states on the game product page on Xbox One marketplace that they will deliver codes to customers via Xbox system message within 7-10 days after the game has launched, meaning Friday 15th of April latest.

Does the game support overlay software for broadcasting/streaming, benchmarking or mods?
That's determined by UWP, and currently the platform doesn't support overlay software. Microsoft is aware of this and are working on improving UWP.

I'm receiving a "File IO Failulre" error notice and the game doesn't launch.
It's an issue caused by having a Unicode based user account. We're working on fixing it ASAP, will update this thread with the latest status.

Does Windows 10 support SLI or Crossfire?
Multiple GPU set-ups aren't currently supported by UWP / DirectX 12.

There's something wrong with my savegame.
Please make sure you're running the latest version of Windows 10. Older versions have a bug which might cause a savegame error when playing a game with multiple user accounts on the same PC. To be sure, switch your account before signing in to the Xbox app and launching the game.

How much bandwidth does the live action show streaming require?
The game includes 4 episodes of the live action show, each episode being approximately 25 minutes. Streaming these will be similar to streaming a half hour TV show on typical video streaming services.

My high-end AMD GPU doesn't run the game in 4K / Ultra.
Please check if you have the latest drivers installed. Having 8gb RAM is recommended for 4K/ultra settings.

The game looks grainy.
The film grain effect becomes heavy on some TVs when the sharpness setting is too high. Also check if the cloud save has picked up your Xbox One game version gamma/brightness settings and pumped up the PC settings simultaneously.

Jack looks like a pirate.
DRM might've accidentally triggered. Make sure you've logged into your Microsoft account before starting the game (thanks NeoGAF!).

The game doesn't fit on my hard drive.
Check that your game download / installation hard drive has enough space. The installation package is about 45 Gb, the live action show is streamed so you don't need to worry about fitting additional 75 Gb on your drive.

The game is taking forever to download.
Microsoft is working on this and trying to improve server caching.

The game runs slowly on my system which meets the minimum spec.
The game defaults to your screen resolution. Try lowering the resolution from the game's display settings.

Can I limit my framerate?
The game supports 60fps and the framerate is based on your system resources. Capping the framerate isn't supported.

Why is the PC version only on Windows 10 and sold only through the Windows Store?
The publisher decides where and on what platform to distribute the game.

How can I quit the game?
It's like Brokeback Mountain all over again... You can exit Quantum Break just like any Windows 10 application, move the mouse cursor to the upper right corner and the regular [X] should appear.

Nope, all of those have far better production values than the stuff in here.

Its about on par with the live action Halo stuff I remember, but to be honest even that was probably better.

I don't watch any of those shows because they're all embarrassingly crap.

So is this. Some the the dialogue is horrendous. Whether it's slightly better or worse crap seems moot.

edit: The Act 2 episode is much better. The gameplay is still very dull but I'm enjoying the story a lot more.

So I picked this up for free Tuesday thanks to winning a load of Nectar points last month and the handy double up Nectar points that was on until yesterday. :)

I've played the first act through and watched the first episode of the show. So far so....alright. It's nothing special, but it's enjoyable enough. The time powers are good fun and they each have their own cool down so you can combine them to good effect. The TV show is gooseberry fool, the same white car appeared in the background multiple times. Also I feel the need to get a Windows phone and a Nissan. gooseberry fool.( I have seen worse on the Sci Fi channel but not much)

The game itself looks a bit ropey in places and the texture(even whole bits of level) pop in is bad in places.

Not sure how I'd have felt about it if I had paid full price and I can see it being sub £20 in next to no time so I would wait if you're not in any rush for a new game.

Having said that I'm looking forward to giving it more time soon. Make of that what you will.

I'm sitting here watching these episodes about time travel and thinking how unrealistic it is that they'd be using Windows Phones.

I'm really liking this! I've not got to grips with the time abilities yet and am not using them to their potential, but it's fun all the same.

But the bigger prize was having Alan Wake back again! I strawberry floating love that game!

It's just as non-sensical in those as well. Though at least in Quantum Break I suppose there are actual super powers at work. It's just that the name "Time Vision" sounds so cheesy.
