No, there wasn't Baka. The game was extremely linear with a few areas to walk around in. Still puzzles me that people found Alan Wake to be a good game. The setting/Twin Peaks vibe was very refreshing but the game play felt so tired from the amount delays the game had.

You know what? I did expect more in the demo that was played. For the all the promises Remedy make, it just looked like a bog standard 3rd person shooter game. This was the first time showing it and that is the best they can show to drum up hype? I don't buy they're making a sprawling big game play environment that you seem to imply they are making. They are known for shooters, tha's about it and this looks no different.

Yes, there were, actually Floex. When you're heading to the Gas Station towards the end of the first episode, there's a massive area to explore. There's a massive area when the Cabins are first introduced. In the third episode where you have to drive to your destination, you can stop and get out and explore at any point, the massive landscape of the town. Sure there are roadblocks at some points, but it's a huge expanse of land. In fact, during all of the driving sections you can do this. Episode 6 has a lot of stuff off the beaten track too, on your way to the logging area. What more would you want, it's not, after all, an open world game? Perhaps you just followed the objectives, rather than exploring? It wouldn't surprise me, given the speed at which you've labelled Quantum Break as 'bad'. Sure, a lot of the memorable sections are confined, but as with the early Resident Evil games, it can be a more tense experience for the player when you're confined.

Remedy were their own worst enemy when it came to promising so much for Alan Wake. Massive play areas is a bit of an overstatement. The trouble I had with the game is you had this potentially huge sprawling area but you're funnelled from point to point. There is a section in a game where you're in a woods and all you can do is walk in a straight line! I explored what I could Baka, there just wasn't much to it. The combat was very limited which didn't help matters either. Don't get me started on the story and voice acting... I'm not expecting an open world game but I am expecting more than shoot, shoot, bang, bang. I'm just surprised and disappointed they decided that was the best way to demo QB for it's first showing but I guess it's marketing towards it's audience of bro gamers.

*yawn* Take The Order, has lost a lot of hype due the fact it looks to be yet another boring shooter. Still have hopes but no denying it has had its wind taken from it's sails.

Alan Wake was one of my favourite games on 360. Sure, if you take away the setting and story you'd just have a fairly standard 3rd person shooter, but you could say the same about a lot of games. Resident Evil 4, for instance.

I meant in terms of the fact that all you do in it is walk in a fairly linear manner shooting things. You could describe 90% of games this way. Just because you cant head off the beaten path and explore much doesn't make it a bad game.

Alan Wake was my favourite game on the 360. However, when I played the first episode of the DLC I got bored and realised you can have too much of a good thing meaning the full game was basically the perfect length.

Sam Lake seems such a nice guy.

The game itself looks pretty bland, having said that, we have only seen the same section over and over again and its pretty decent graphically. After my initial dismissal an action game with cover mechanic is badly needed for Xbox One at this moment, I guess this and Tomb Raider will be MS's games that go up against Uncharted 4. If this is in the same area as Alan Wake in how it plays etc count me in, if only cos there's not a lot else coming this year.

I work for that site and know the guy, he doesn't work at Microsoft and it's just a rumour he picked up nothing official so it probably isn't true

Never heard of the guy, was told he is not a Microsoft employee.

I predicted a delay but this "news" has no merit yet.

Delayed to early 2016 -

Quantum Break set to launch in 2016

Today, Microsoft Studios announced that the highly-anticipated action-adventure Quantum Break will launch in 2016.

“With so many Xbox One games launching this year, moving Quantum Break to 2016 extends our incredible portfolio into next year with a monster new IP,” said Shannon Loftis, Head of Publishing at Microsoft Studios.

Quantum Break is created by Remedy Entertainment, the critically-acclaimed studio behind Max Payne and Alan Wake. Featuring Remedy’s highly acclaimed storytelling, Quantum Break fuses an intense action game with top-of-the-line live action elements into one revolutionary entertainment adventure.

“We’re really proud to be part of the incredible Xbox One line-up,” said Sam Lake, Creative Director at Remedy. “We thank our fans for their patience, and want them to know that the team is taking advantage of this opportunity to polish and fine tune the game to create the kind of standout entertainment experience they’ve come to expect from us.

Didn't Alan Wake suffer two delays too?

I was really hyped for it in 2007, by 2009 I'd lost interest.

Cool story bro'.

Not suprising considering MS have 3 exclusives (at least) coming out later this year, this will be going up against Uncharted 4 then, both games look a bit rubbish truth be told.
