Cex used to be good for second hand stuff, but if you keep your eyes open on deals, you should be able to pick up a brand new machine + games for less than what the company charges.

I would never buy a machine second hand. Regardless of whether Cex offer a 2 year "guarantee" or not. I like the feeling of knowing that everything is within the box and nothing is missing.

Having said that though, their Xmas prices are pretty good. That's when their games are sometimes shockingly low...

Should I just buy new?

That depends. What are you buying, stranger?

PS4

You may as well buy a new one as the prices on CEX aren't that great. There have been some great bundles over the past few months and I'd expect more to crop up as we get closer to the announcement of the Neo. If you need it immediately, I'd recommend one of the following:

1TB console for £239.99
http://www.simplygames.com/p/sony-plays ... -drive-ps4

500GB black console with Uncharted 4 for £269.99 (use code TDX-KHTX)
http://www.tesco.com/direct/uncharted-c ... d=125-3294

500GB white console with Uncharted 4, Ratchet & Clank and Minecraft: Story Mode for £279.00 (use code TDX-KHTX)
http://www.tesco.com/direct/special-off ... 0060.promo
http://www.tesco.com/direct/uncharted-4 ... d=788-2788

This...

You can get an infinitely better deal if you just shop around... Worst case scenario? Just wait till Xmas.

I don't think anyone is suggesting CEX are a good place to go for consoles; the idea is that their trade-in prices are generally the best, so if you want to buy with store credit it's usually the most competitive option.

Aren't GameCube demo discs rarer than hen's teeth... or is that what you were getting at?

It's a DS game.

I am still not sure how but I somehow managed to get someone on here to take the empty box for First Hunt. Maybe someone else found my cartridge and sold it to CEX. Someone who lost their actual Hunters cart and the story goes on... Maybe one day the proper game will find its way back to me, but with no box.

That reminds me of when I accidentally traded in Baten Kaitos minus the second disc to my local Grainger Games. I was a regular there too so I'm really surprised they never pulled me up for it down the line.

I should point out the buyer new full well there was no game in the box. It is still a mystery to me why it appealed, but free is free I guess.

PS4

Sony is holding an event on 7th September which will almost certainly have details of the Neo so I'd definitely wait for that, unless you want a PS4 right now. Even if you're not interested in the Neo itself, it's worth waiting as retailers are likely to drop their prices of normal PS4s around that time.

Completely agree and would be wise to wait and see what Sony have to show us.

Salt n Pepa should totally do an updated version of that song extoling the virtues of trading in old FIFA games for pennies and buying controllers that smell of fags.
