I also never went to Neogaf. Or 4ch*n or Reddit. I don't even know if these things are similar, I've just heard the names echoing around the internet for years without bothering to find out what they were or why I would use them.

To be honest, GR is one of only about 5 websites that I visit frequently.

I think this is going to be an interesting thing to watch. I can’t imagine any statement that’s going to make people go ‘oh well, he seems genuine, let’s move on’. It’s going to be a festival of account suicides.

For me Neogaf took over from this place as my source of gaming news. Think it was around 2010 I made the switch. I didn't post there but it was my daily reading material for way too long. Whilst it was perfect for instant news and informative Official Threads, the community as a whole sucked the life out of gaming. As KKlein says, I never felt any better by reading Gaf, both Gaming and OT, and it took far too long for me to realise this.

I'm actually really glad to see the ship sink, and it's weird to suddenly feel at home again by visiting GR. Should never have left

It does seem that way.
The forums themselves are gone (or more likely hidden) as are all the PMs and even threads in the FAQ section.

On the other hand, how many advertisers will have told Google to pull their ads from Neogaf since the weekend?

If GAF returns, you guys finding your way back here could just do what some of us already do - read GAF for news and have GRcade become your comments section

I think most posts on GAF just get lost in the crowd, it can feel a bit pointless contributing there with so many other people trying to make their voice heard and no-one really remembering or caring who you are individually. Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name. And they're always glad you came. You want to be where you can see, our troubles are all the same. You want to be where everybody knows your name. Da da-da-da-da da-da

Never done more than browse the odd thread on GAF. As with some here it just seemed so vast, impersonal and fast. I always preferred it here, where I recognise everyone's name (More of less).

Our community's pretty good when you think about it. We all know each other and nine times out of ten we can chat and have a laugh without anyone getting upset. We don't have any complete idiots or wankers (apart from Moggy ). And I've defo made one or two dodgy calls as an admin but at least I'm not Evilore.

Sincere welcome to anyone from GAF looking to come here to retire from all the drama. It's certainly more relaxed and chill. I think this is true even in the politics thread.

I think our simple rule set helps, it allows for enterpritation and our mods can interprit they also need to do thei modding publicing rather than via an annonymiser so tends to be more human and thought out as there is recourse for actions if they were ott and hamfisted.
