Looks like ResetEra got their funding plan sorted - ads for everyone with a $4 per month / $40 per year 'Era Clear' subscription to remove them, though unlike GAF there'll be no bans for using ad blockers.

I was reading their announcement thread earlier and the staff kept blatantly ignoring the questions about where the money is going and who, if anyone, profits from it. So much for transparency, lol. Part of the reason why GAF crumbled was because people didn't want to see someone like Evilore massively profiting from the community.

I assume the silence means someone does intend to profit from it, but they just don't want to admit that to the userbase.

It'd be hilarious if they found out that Evilore was actually running things in the background and was quietly making a fortune from Resetera.

As soon as all that gooseberry fool kicked off and there was another site being set up, you just knew the people doing so we're in it for the money.

I'm sure the ResetEra server costs are high compared to somewhere like GRcade but I somehow doubt they're $56,000/month

Holy gooseberry fool Gaf really is dead. Reluctantly popped over there as re$etera is currently down and the LABO thread is only 3 pages long. Ours is bigger and better

It's genuinely kind of sad to see GAF in that state.

Going to be interesting to see how big/intrusive the ads are before I turn on my ad-blocker for the site.

Amazingly, The banner ad at the bottom of the page is pushing a dating site for Chinese women promising they'll make the first move. Just needs a shower advert now.

Almost immediately get redirected to the Play Store app to download the Coral gambling app.

Hi, I apologize for any confusion in this area. As we are incorporated as an LLC and not a nonprofit it has always been possible that we might eventually take a profit. We don't want to assume too much while we're still in the red, and we have site priorities we are committed to seeing addressed, but our existence as an LLC and a business is not a secret.

Yes we're going to make a profit but strawberry float off asking where it goes.
