It's become racist because of the casual, derogatory way ignorant folk use it to refer to any person of non-white ethnicity.

Fair enough Moggy. Never really thought about it like that, but, makes sense.

I've never even heard of someone being called a "Yid" before.

Where did the term "Kike" come from? And isn't it slightly wrong that South Park has Jewish characters called Kyle and Ike

That term is used a lot towards fans of Tottenham Hotspur (Laga, they are a football team). Tottenham fans then tried to "reclaim" the word by calling themselves the "Yid Army" but that backfired as most Tottenham fans are not Jewish.

Whitey and honkey are the other 2. None of them really seem to have the same impact.

The only time I've heard honkey used from an English perspective is on Love Thy Neighbour.

Thing is with slurs against white people is that they just don't carry the same venom as the obvious slurs against black and Asian people, why is that? Probably something to do with white people never having been slaves or been oppressed by an invading and occupying force or something.

Racism against white people is less about colour and more about where you're from I think. "strawberry float off back to your own country" is the go-to insult these days.

Immigration isn't the problem though, nor has it ever been - if we were being overrun with people from, say, Sweden, Japan, France, Italy, America, Canada, Germany etc. nobody would have a problem. Even if they didn't speak any English. Nobody has ever really complained about the Chinese either. The truth is actually very simple: it's the wrong type of immigrant, i.e. poor and/or from the middle east, with the 'wrong' religion, and the elephant in the room is nobody truly wants them. To say England is "full up" is actually a polite cover in and of itself. Do you think if 50,000 Italians or Japanese suddenly wanted to come over tomorrow we'd be sitting here going 'well gooseberry fool, our infrastructure can't cope'. Of course we wouldn't.

We also live in a world that is always looking for somebody to blame (the EU, immigration, etc.) for their own failings. 5/10 years ago or whatever it was those 'bloody Polish builders'. Then it was Romanians stealing our fruit picking jobs nobody ever did. It just shifts as the years go by.

Regarding racism, just had a bit of a ding dong with someone on Facebook who decided to label people racist on the comments section of a local news article.

I pointed out to him that it might help if either he set his profile as private or removed all the status updates about wanting to kill Israelis, Indians and homosexuals, along with wanting to "slap Hindus around the face with beef".

This man has kids.

Oh I see, well perhaps I should have added "been invaded by people that aren't white", that might have made my point a bit more succinct.

I think Britain would be better off if the British left the country.
