Oh mate.

No?

Calling a person noshing a family+ sized portion of KFC "tubby" is about as "offensive" as calling a ingorant screaming red faced racist "gammon"

Or have I misstyped somewhere and said something else entirely...?

Well that woman was probably all excited to marry you but look how that turned out...

Sorry Moggy, I think you've misread what Hexx was saying there. He was talking about the word gammon being the equivalent to calling someone tubby.

I think we've long since proven that satire/mischevous is dead.

I don't see gammon being any worse than tired old copy-and-paste shite like luvvies, snowflakes, libtards and cucks but I agree with Jawa that it's not exactly helpful when it comes to trying to debate anyone. I can't feel sorry for the banana splits, though. They deserve far worse.

You can get rich chavs, but they're always of the nouveau riche brigade. Builders that have earned a fat wedge and now drive a white Ranger Rover, that kind of thing. Far more subtle level of chavvery, but they do exist.

The odd thing about the Ryanair thing is...it seems to have gone away?
I thought there might be some fallout or ongoing coverage - but the world seems to have quickly moved on with no repercussions/consequences.

These people (not Jawa ;) ) are beyond debate. You can’t reason or debate with somebody that thinks he can send black ladies to the back of the plane.

This incident has reminded me of an incident I was present at ages ago which I felt was a bit of a moral grey area, so I'll post it and see what everyone thinks.

There's a man who used to get the same evening rush hour bus I did who had severe mental health issues. He would just talk to himself and say really angry things, I would guess he may have had severe paranoia or schizophrenia, but I'm not sure exactly what his mental health issues were.

One day he suddenly started rattling off really racist stuff about black people in his usual aggressive tone. A woman (I think she was mixed race but can't remember) politely but firmly told him this wasn't on, but of course he ignored her and carried on!

I didn't intervene myself, despite it making me very angry, because I had seen him before and knew that due to his issues it wouldn't work and may even agitate him. In fairness I was as concerned about him as I was about any people's sensibilities because I thought he was going to get his had kicked in if he did that in front of the wrong person. I'd also argue that people with diminished responsibility in that way aren't really top priority for making society better. I was actually a lot closer to stepping in against the woman purely to de-escalate the situation, because she was never going to get what she wanted.

Right decision? Wrong decision?

I really want to see footage of the old bastard being carted off by the law. I want to see him struggling and wailing like the weasel he is. It would make my life.

Surprised there isn’t more discussion about why these racist shitbags feel empowered to behave this way in public, rather than whether or not the term gammon is offensive.
It is, but to racist pricks, so who gives a strawberry float.

Right decision would have been to step in against the woman, as you say this guy clearly had diminished responsibility. Doesn't mean it would have to have been confrontational, more of a "leave him be, he's mental" kind of thing.

I guess. What do I know, this thread is a minefield :slol:

I can totally see where you're coming from. I'm no mental health expert but he probably didn't have a filter for his hideous thoughts because of his illness. The uncomfortable truth is that everybody has some kind of prejudice but normally know not to express it in public. I don't know if I doubt that this bloke was saying what he really thought, but there is no doubt that his illness caused him to express it.

We all know what started empowering these banana splits, but mentioning it would derail the thread more than the discussion on gammon. ;)

No idea. I just wait for the sugarist drink I could think of (that comes in 2L bottles) and Ultraised it.

You could always just stir 5 tablespoons of sugar in a normal bottle if you want.

(Edit - Is that too mean? It was meant to be funny. But on reflection is looks really really mean, not teasing mean)

Her face was still less gammon than yours.
