That would be amazing :o

Ratchet & Clank was very much in that vein right? So Insomniac could be a good fit.

They could do the gameplay, but Beanland must return for the musics

Also Lupus mustn't talk. I could see Insomniac attaching a voice decoder or something to the little boy for some 'dog talk' humour and that would be bad.

I'd love a JFG with some Star Fox-like on rails sections to take you between some of the planets and story sections. Could be so good. That's a series that had much more than one game in it.

I'd love a Jet Force Gemini revival, but honestly, I haven't really clicked with any of Insomniac's games.

The more I think about things the more I'm convinced Rare are in for a bit of a comeback. As much as I cannot stand Phil Harrison, he's now overseeing European internal development and developer relations at Microsoft. I can't see him not looking at Rare's rich history and looking to capitalise on it.

What does perplex me, however, is the amount of racing talent Rare has been stocking up on. I'm genuinely looking forward to see what's going on there, despite not being a fan of racing games.

Who would be in Banjo Kart? Most of the characters are awful and unrecognisable.

It'll be All-Stars all over again. Unless you're going to invest and have recognisable characters associated with your brand, don't fund these kind of projects. Nintendo is the only one good for it.

I'd love the latter to be the case. Although I wonder if the Banjo world is enough of a pool for characters. A 'Super Deformed' style Microsoft racer would be quite cool, but it would have to be SD, otherwise it could end up looking like a horrid mish mash of styles that don't meld ala PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

You're one of these people who didn't like Diddy Kong Racing aren't you?

I loved Diddy Kong Racing. I want the next Mario Kart game to adapt that single player mode, been saying that for years but boy did that game have gooseberry fool characters.

I'd love a new Banjo. But if they do for the love of god they have to change the character designs again. Hideous. :dread:

Banjo Karting was a thing Rare were looking at.

From the names of the images you can see that characters in development included Banjo and Mumbo, while Trophy Thomas (from Nuts and Bolts) is in that top concept art. It seemed very chunky, with lots of mud splattered vehicles, perhaps quite Excite truck in feel?

Also in regards to this:

That trailer was put together by Microsoft, not by Rare. It was a reveal kept secret to the core team while Nuts and Bolts was already in development, put together by the big wigs to satisfy fans and sort of get Rare to kick up development.

Aren't practically all the Rare guys who made the good games not in Rare anymore?

I recently listened to this podcast:

It's Grant Kirkhope (he did music on some Rare games like Banjo) playing Rare games with two guys and shooting random banter. It's worth listening to because here and there Kirkhope talks about his time at Rare and stuff about other staff members. At one point he says that he'd love to get with the old Banjo staff and make Banjo-Threeie, and he isn't the only one to think it, but the problem is basically the original staff dissolved.
Worth a listen. Kirkhope is a funny guy.

I've listened to that before, and it ruined Mumbo Jumbo for me.
