Its £20 on live and £18 in argos. Im trying to calculate how much petrol i would use if i drove to argos. I think its approximately 66p.

But I have to balance that up against the amount of extra electricity i would use over the lifetime of playing the game, that of the motor that spining the disc compared to the hard drive. - can anybody help me out with that?

Ah, thanks Dragon. I will check that out then!

I seem to be more caught up in JFG than I thought because I've only got to rescue Tribals from four more levels :o It was surprising to see so many cleared planets as I was working out where to head next so I decided to take stock of everything which is how I came across this fact. I've collected some ship parts along the way but I'm not exactly sure how many I still need. I'll make a more focussed effort on rounding them up once everyone is safe but I feel that I should have them all when I've got all the Tribals. I don't know what 12 year old me was doing for over 26 hours with a guide

I spoke too soon about only having four levels left. As I finished Sekhmet, I found a new landing pad which took me to the Water Ruin; I completely forgot about this level! I'll need to return to it with Lupus, I think, to get all the Tribals and I need to dig around SS Anubis to find some earplugs for the bear.

After Sekhmet, I went to the Anubis to get to the Depository, and maybe find the earplugs. I didn't do the latter but I managed to find all the Tribals, though some were trickily hidden. I'm always amazed at how the Tribals manage to drop their items, usually a pickaxe, before running towards whichever Jet Force member looks like he/she is about to rescue them.

The Depository led me to the Walkway which seems even newer to me than the Water Ruin. If I ever made it here as a kid, I didn't spend much time looking around which is a shame as it looks great. It's amazing just how broad the range of environments is in this game. You have a level that is bright and wonderful, like Walkway, the dark and rainy Ichor base and places like the Rith Essa which basks in the glow of a setting sun.

I do wonder if Rare will be closely monitoring which games people have been playing on this collection, considering which of their franchises might be worth revisiting for a sequel. Before release all the talk seemed to be about a new gen Battletoads, but I wouldn't be surprised to see JFG, Conker and Blast Corps topping that list now.

For perfect dark, can you copy your save across from the 360 arcade game and use that?

EDIT: This suggests they do

RG: The trailer boasts of 10,000 gamerscore points. Are these a whole new set of achievements or are they the existing ones?

JT: So the 360 games are as they currently are on the 360, nothing added or taken away. The benefit of this is that you get to use your existing Achievements to get a head start in unlocking the bonus content within Rare Replay. Furthermore your saves carry across too thanks to the wonders of The Cloud – if you saved it up there on 360, it’ll be there on Xbox One. Now some swift maths should then give you a hint as to how much Gamerscore is within the remaining games and it’s fair to say we’ve pushed the boat out on that one and broken normal conventions.

Mizar is haaaaaard. I think that I nearly had him just now but he got the better of Juno. Hopefully I'll be able to take him down at some point today.

By the time I had all the Tribals, I only needed two ship parts. I looked up both their locations and I probably only would have found one with quite a bit of random backtracking. I've really enjoyed playing this again after so long and most of it felt pretty fresh.

Mizar has left the building :toot:

As you can probably gather from my previous posts, this has been one of my favourite gaming experiences, despite the age of the game. Exploring the different worlds, with a range of environments, kept things fresh and challenging. Leaving a number of stages to be unlocked during the Tribal and ship part hunt stopped things from becoming too tedious, though I was stumped at a few points. The soundtrack is still amazing and I never got tired of hearing any of the music, even though it's been shuffling through my library for the past few years. There's definite room for improvement in the frame rate and controls but it's still a fantastic experience. If you're looking for a space adventure with exploration, like Metroid, give Jet Force Gemini a go. Now, where's that sequel?

Also, dat Big Bug Fun Club finish  :toot: :datass:

The Perfect Dark that you get IS the 360 Arcade version, using backwards compatibility. ie, the saves, achievements etc will all follow.

This is #1 in the all formats/all prices chart. It's Rare's first number one since Banjo Kazooie on the N64 (I am finding that hard to believe), and MS' first XB1 exclusive to land the top spot.

Well done Rare.

I have been playing Jetpac for the last hour.

Not even 60fps @ 1080p. Would not bang.

Is the Jimmy Saville reference still in the ending? The little Saville noise and giving the medals like Jim'll Fix It Badges? - it'll be interesting if it's been changed. Now then, Now then :D

Do you mean this bit? Unfortunately, it isn't. I never completed the game on the N64 but I've had the soundtrack for a while and I always wondered what made those sounds.

Yeah those are the sounds, it's a little throwaway sound bite impersonating Saville. Not surprised it got cut, thanks.

Could of been made into a story by some News Outlets if it had been left in and forgotten, I always remember the controversy about the Muslim chanting in one of the dungeons in Ocarina of Time which made Nintendo do a quick update and change - but that was in times before online patches etc.

I still have the Ocarina of Time cart. That was the fire temple music, from memory.

Jetpac is still a pretty good game, Lunar Jetman though, complete ass. Had a blast on the Jetpac remake, I didn't even know this existed. Pretty fun.

"Rare Replay's Nintendo 64 games run at 1080p. Digital Foundry analyses the Xbox One versions of Rare's classic N64 line-up." -

Based on our tests so far, Rare Replay obviously offers phenomenal value but it's clearly a mixed bag when it comes to the consistency of how each title is handled on Xbox One. Thankfully, the quality of the actual games is mostly excellent, showcasing rewarding gameplay and ambitious design few other developers could match at the time. The poor controller mapping makes Jet Force Gemini difficult to play properly, though this isn't a problem for the other N64 games in the collection. Perfect Dark and the Banjo-Kazoozie games are clearly the standout titles here, with 4J Studios' original conversion work still holding up nicely, though obviously we would have loved to play the Banjo titles at 60fps.

The rest of the N64 line-up is less impressive, though in many ways probably more authentic to the original games in terms of their variable performance. The native 1080p presentation and use of anti-aliasing provide a higher standard of image quality, but Rare Replay's supreme value clearly comes at a cost - not everything can receive the same care and attention 4J lavished on their Xbox 360 remastering projects.

What our N64 testing highlights is the Xbox One backwards compatibility code hands in a robust showing, perfectly mimicking each game's showing on Xbox 360. The question is to what extent the virtual machine can handle more challenging fare - we'll report back on that soon as we dig into Rare Replay's Xbox 360 titles - and beyond that, let's not forget we also have all four Gears of War titles to examine in the forthcoming Ultimate Edition.
